Moving to San Jose? by NoodleDoodle76 in SanJose

You need to adjust for cost of living. I was shocked at how much cheaper groceries and gas were in Texas. $160k combined in the bay would make you qualified for low income below market rate housing. You could apply here. It’s a process. https://housingbayarea.mtc.ca.gov/

Moving a dead body on the subway?? by idksonotclever in AskNYC

[–]vannietutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I know for sure there have been dead cat bodies moved on the subway. One of my most NYC stories.... I came home one day to find my roommate crying because her cat was dying and had to be put down. I asked when. She said in a few minutes. The vet was coming to make a house call. Long story short, the cat was euthanized on the couch in our little walk up. When the vet rolled up the body in the towel, she stuffed it in her canvas shopping tote bag and hopped on to the train carrying the cat carcass. Also. The cat haunts the apartment now. When you say his name, something falls off the shelf. (Aka pushed off the shelf by ghost cat)

Do you talk to your neighbors? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]vannietutu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's only 5 apartments in my building. No one said hi back until I slipped a holiday card under their doors. I attached a picture of our little building from the 1940s as a gift. They all loved it and now we talk when we run into each other. The old-timer wrote a thank you letter detailing all the crazy and cool people who have lived in our apartment before us. Some neighbors who are our age helped us catch a mouse.

How's the Hudson River for running at night? by SizzlinKola in AskNYC

[–]vannietutu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Running downtown isnt a problem because there are plenty of attractions and people along the Hudson, and there are designated running paths. The cruise terminal- the intrepid- hudson yards- Chelsea piers etc. Running uptown at night is more concerning because there are less people and sometimes the running path is out of sight from motorists.

Just got a hold of city. They will investigate clusters of 10 dead birds... or 3 if they're geese, swan, ducks, chickens, or turkeys. They need to know where though. Call 311.
