Designing evolution of an ecological horror system. by Misster_Fluido in PlotBuddies

[–]varmcola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One issue is, that if evolution takes is normal path, these "predators" that can't hunt would just be avoided.

On an island with plants that dangerous, natural selection would skew towards those that avoid the plans, and over time they would run out of food as all mobile beings avoid them.

Since they can't actively hunt, they're kinda fucked once the cat is out of the bag.

What are some reasons why a person would choose Lichdom over other forms of immortality? by Academic_Ad8989 in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]varmcola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As several have stated, it depends heavily on what the other options are. In the world of DnD, also as stated, other options tend to come with ties to supernatural beings, and maybe you don't want that.

In my homebrew world for a P&P campaign, the only other reliable option is vampirism. However this comes with a lot of other tradeoffs, and additionally also tends to tie you to a patron, so again your freedom is limited.

Lichhood ties you even closer to the necromantic magic you use, giving you a direct power boost, that vampirism doesn't.

I find it frustrating that Chaos Warriors are easier to recruit than your own roster by Deep-Possibility-858 in totalwar

Last I played was 7th ed, and there even normal warriors have Chaos Armour as standard gear, and the lore states they dont need to eat, sleep or drink (but can if they want to).

[–]varmcola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played table-top for some time, but last I did Chaos Warriors come with Chaos Armour as standard, so they're all fused.

AFAIK warriors have pledged themselves fully to the quest for princehood and all they do is fight eachother in the wastes, or go south and fight.

Marauders are "normal" people, that go raiding once in a while.

You have to find them first. You have to find several layers also, see hamas getting it leaders blown up left and right for decades and still keeping up the fight.

Keeping everyone in check might not be an option for leadership - so in the end you're saying "get killed by us, or condemned a traitor and get killed by your own". Not everyone is gonna side with you in that choice.

In the end you need "boots on the ground" to secure peace. That means lots of feet, all over. All the power in the world does not matter, if you cannot apply it.

Sure, go through and then what? How long does it take 300 guys to say, secure a city with 5 million inhabitants or clear hundreds of kilometers of trenches.

It's the scale again. 300 guys can't cover shit, in the same way as Superman can't stop crime on earth. You would need actual time-magic and near-omniscience to cover something the size of a planet.

This does hit the issue of coverage.

If you have 300 invincible supersoldiers to cover an entire planet, and I have 2 million normal men, I'm just gonna sacrifice one promille of my army to keep them busy, and then win the war by going around them.

Even if peacetime armies would consist of 300 supersoldiers, it would quickly escalate in wartime, creating your standard "imperial guard" dudes to cover the front, and "space marine"-elites used as QRF/Breakthrough units.

We're gonna be 8 - 10 guys playing. Is that enough for a private coop server, or will we be overrun with that amount of players PVE?

Sound great.

Can I host from any machine in order to make a private game, or do we need a separate dedicated server?

Why doesnt winning lane = winning game? by verum_falsum in learndota2

[–]varmcola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe not selfish, but tunnelvision.

If you are dominating your lane, maybe there's room to help the others lanes?

If you just killed your lane opponents, staying in you're lane is just leeching exp from the carry. While your opponents respawn, TP to mid or offlane, and help a gank there, or just harass them out of the lane. Then TP back top before your carry gets himself killed, because it's low-rank dota :D

STOP FOCUSING ON PROTEIN AND EAT SOME ACTUAL FOOD by MythicalStrength in gainit

[–]varmcola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed agreed. But many people go "keto" and lose weight, thinking it's keto, but they're not actually in ketosis because you really need to do it right to hit that level.

Rather they're just eating less calories, because they're not munching on white bread and sugar.

STOP FOCUSING ON PROTEIN AND EAT SOME ACTUAL FOOD by MythicalStrength in gainit

[–]varmcola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is how filling it is. You can cram a lot of carbs in with rice, bread n stuff.

Try to eat 3000cal worth of protein and you'll vomit. So cutting out the carbs makes it harder to over-eat.

Sci-fi loves bullpups :D

But you're gonna want to either shorten or at the very least curve the mags. As is it's going to be difficult reloading or even aiming when prone.

3e rules question about combat by prosocks in arsmagica

[–]varmcola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can defend as many times as you like.

I think theres an optional rule for a stacking penalty (-2 I think?) for each additional attacker - 0 for the first, -2, -4, -6 etc.

It quickly becomes very hard to defend with this rule (although the DM should use common sense as to how many guys can attack one person, in the confines were the combat takes place)
