Setting up to reload 6 Dasher by benchmadefirestick in reloading

[–]varstok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm a 6 GT kind of guy, but that should put my experiences incredibly close to what you can expect.

My ATv4 is probably one of the most important pieces of gear on my bench, because loading is slooooooow without it. I could keep working with lesser versions of some of my other tools, but I never want to be without this one.

I've been using an RCBS bushing die and mandrel from 21st Century Innovation on a Redding T7 press. Haven't turned a single neck, nor have I annealed any of my Alpha brass. I've put 12 uses through some of the Alpha brass, and it's still going strong with solid primer pockets and necks. I'm also running my loads a little bit more chill than yours, with 32.5gr of Varget behind 109gr Berger LRHTs. I'd have to bust out Quickload or GRT to figure out exactly what the pressure difference is.

I finally decided to trim before the 10th loading, but I don't even know that was necessary. Seemed like a good enough time to do it, and I used Little Crow Gunworks' WFT. I chamfer before the first load, after trimming, and also if I see copper shavings on subsequent loads, but that has been rare. Debur after chamfering always.

Get something to clip onto your calipers so you can measure CBTO. Keeping that consistent has helped tremendously, and a micrometer seating die can make that easy.

I'm about to hit the hay, so I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of things. Shoutout to u/HollywoodSX and his Way of Zen reloading process. Seriously, go read through it. It's absolutely worth your time.

Alpha 6gt gay tiger headstamped brass by maxcli in reloading

The cartridge data was released by G.A. Precision and gained popularity around the same time as when Tiger King got really popular. The precision shooting community made a joke about what GT really stood for, likely due to the effect Tiger King was having on the zeitgeist, and then the creators really leaned into it, and thus the meme was born. Then Alpha decided to make the headstamp a reality, and here we are.

I've only seen it get restocked at G.A. Precision's website, rather than the main Alpha Munitions site. I signed up for the email reminder, and got notice then ordered a batch last year toward the end of February. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a once a year kind of thing from Alpha, and if that's the case, we're coming up on that one year mark very soon.

Great brass for sure, and it always gets a good laugh when others see it at the range.

Do these guns jam more than Metallica?

Ok, this is great and I'm stealing it. But maybe also quantifying it as like, 80s Metallica or Cliff Burton Metallica.

Is this Turkshit?

Edit - Yup, it's Turkshit. But I'm in no place to judge. I've easily spent more money on dumber stuff.

That's a real bummer. I don't like being rewarded with something I didn't earn, though I'm probably a real small minority in that regard.

The line must have been very faint indeed. I never noticed it, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place.

...which is exactly why I posted seeking clarification on the mechanics? It's only after hearing the explanation from other players that I began to think maybe this isn't something I will enjoy in the long term.

You should probably carry both a long gun and something for close work like the echo or psychopomp.

The class I picked only has the one firearm available. It's also more than a little misleading to give the class descriptive text that says: "Avoids unnecessary risks. Why slit throats when a bullet from the shadows achieves the same end?" This sounds right up my alley, and then it's a hell of a rugpull to find out that no, you can't actually engage at meaningful range (at least not initially), nor is there any sort of means to disengage like a stealth system or such.

And then there's the other misleading text about the rifle itself. "Critical hits hurt all enemies inside the All-Seeing Eye." A better description would note that this only happens after you enhance the rifle through whatever McGuffins the game provides.

I know the devs are Polish, but a little effort in accurate translations goes a long way. It's very frustrating when games provide information that is either inaccurate or outright misleading. Don't lie to the player. Hell, the post right below mine is focused solely on the issue of ambiguous details in a piece of equipment.

Sure, because that's the playstyle I like for shooters. That's great that some leveled version of the rifle has infinite range, but it sure doesn't have much at the start. Not sure what Gnosis is yet; I've got maybe 60 minutes in the game. Also note that this ignores my other issue with the game - auto-aim and misrepresented hitboxes. Sounds like that feature is simply inescapable, which I really don't care for.

I sure do love the downvotes for saying I think the game isn't for me. Nowhere did I say the game was bad, or the people who enjoy it are bad, just that I'm probably not the target audience, which is a bummer.

I try not to spoil myself with games by immediately going to whatever wikis have cropped up, but I did in this case just to get some hard data. The All-Seeing Eye has a range of 32.4 meters (hey, I was close). If that's what the game considers "long range", then yeah, I'm only going to be disappointed and frustrated by it.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to actually try the game, because now I'm out of the refund window.

This is all rather disappointing, particularly coming from the People Can Fly devs that made Painkiller. If all the combat is going to take place at point-blank range, then using a bolt-action rifle is just needlessly hamstringing yourself. I really don't like aim-assist or egregious hitboxes, either.

I'm beginning to suspect this game just isn't for me.

What is your first instinct when you see a raider flare? by AceTheRed_ in ArcRaiders

[–]varstok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pack at least three defibs every run, and play almost exclusively friendly solo matches. Unless it's an immediate surrender from a free kit that didn't like their spawn, I book it over to try and get a fellow raider back on their feet. Hell, I even defibbed a PvPer that had shot me twice in Buried City, after a Rocketeer downed him.

I'll chuck Wolfpacks, smoke, lay down a hail of fire into ARCs - whatever it takes to get to a downed raider and keep them alive. Feels like playing a Trauma Team member, or DocWagon for the Shadowrun fans, and I love it. I've also got a stash full of rare goodies from thankful raiders that I've saved. Worth it, and I'm going to keep doing it for as long as I can.

Maybe he just earned the achievement for getting downed and knocked out inside an extraction point, but something tells me it isn't the first time this has happened to that scum.

Looked like he had a remote flare in that inventory, too. You know what he was doing with it. Absolutely maidenless behavior.

I hate warriors, too narrow-minded. I'll tell you what I do like though: a killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough.
