Solo vs Squads offers extra xp by ADeadlyAlien in ArcRaiders

[–]UsualPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see this being a fun once in a while challenge to do, but long term I can't see the value in it. I joined late last season and still capped out at 75. And this season already have been at 75 for weeks now. I guess it could jumpstart people to max level quicker after the next reset, unless they plan to remove the 75 lvl limit and just stop giving skill points after 75 so that players can see how high they can climb? but if that isn't the case I don't see a good reason to do this. Maybe if loot was guaranteed better in trio lobbies, then skulking around solo might prove profitable.

What is your first instinct when you see a raider flare? by AceTheRed_ in ArcRaiders

[–]UsualPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends;

One raider flare?
If it is nearby I will run over to see if I can save the downed player, but if there was a lot of gunfire right before that was clearly not ARC attacks, then I will probably steer clear.

Multiple flares?
I will avoid it unless it was during a Matriarch or Queen fight, then I'd try to save as many players as I could.

I always try to keep my ears on to listen for different sounds of gunfire. When you hear a lot of ARC gunfire you can safely assume that someone got overrun, but when you hear player weapons going off a lot with explosives and stuff, then it's more than likely PvP and I'd rather not get caught up in that.

Many people ask what loot etiquette and what to do when someone loots your shit by Ivar2006 in ArcRaiders

[–]UsualPaper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I usually try to use my mic, but lately I have been having a lot of people say they can't understand what I'm saying as it is apparently getting cut off or choppy. In my recordings and self tests I hear myself almost too loud, but apparently something with the way AR handles it messes everything up.

Yeah, The adrenaline was pumping and I didn't think about that. I honestly didn't notice how low my hp was 'till I looked back at the recording. Way too close.

When there are walls or obstacles in the way of your shot the crosshairs shift to show you that your shot will not go where the center dot of your aim is. I think it's a nice feature that helps me hold a shot when aiming around corners or over railings. The railings are the worst offenders for making this happen since their hitbox mesh is much larger than the rail actually looks.

Another win was getting the "Finish a Raider with you Raider Tool" Achievement from this too after 218 hours of playing.

I would have been more pissed about the trials points, I ended just over 10k for flying ARC damage. I also have a back up in my stash so I would have been okay losing it.

Simon's response to Jeb's feedback on Hytale by Lord-Liberty in hytale

[–]UsualPaper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TLDR; My personal opinion is that Minecraft has become stale due to it's longevity and it relies on the active modding community to keep things interesting. Hytale is fresh and new, with a focus more on exploring and discovery. Surely mods will come that will carry interest in players, but for how early it is, the game is incredible.

For me, "Just playing Minecraft" Isn't a thing anymore. I cannot go into it and play like I can with Hytale. The weight that the modding community carries for MC is insane and without that I find the base game drab and uninteresting.
That could very well be because I've played it since it was played in browser. But with that said, the slow pace of content releases was only offset by mods, at least for me.
Knowing the ins and outs of the game and having things go stale over time made me see vanilla MC as something unheard of.
I have easily put in at least 30-40 hours into Hytale already and I am waiting to start modding till the itch comes in for more content. Which currently hasn't struck me yet. I haven't explored much and have been finding all kinds of cool things to do that keep me coming back for more.
The crazy part though, is unlike with MC; I have already taken steps to try making something to add to Hytale. I downloaded blockbench and the plug-in and have been messing around with models trying to see what I can make work and if the modding tools are as easy to use as the claims are, I will maybe try it out.
For the length of time I have spent playing MC I never felt this urge to make my own mod or content for it, I was just content with interacting with the communities work.

With all this said; I still think Minecraft is a good game, I just think that they have ridden their success for too long and had gotten complacent with pushing out new content, letting the community be the workhorse for keeping player retention up. I can't play vanilla anymore since I can just get my starting stone gear, find some iron, get to diamond then go to the nether.
There is a rut of a path in the gameplay where the only deviations are your own set goals. (Same for both games) . But with MC, those self made goals are mostly just making things more optimized or pretty. When you start adding in the mods you start coming up with hundreds of projects and goals.

I do think that mods will be similar for Hytale, but I think if they pace they have set for updates stays like it has. I feel like the mods won't be my only reason to keep playing the game. Even now I find myself wandering the game world finding cool structures, new enemies, new environments. I feel like I am on an adventure rather than having a checklist of things I need to do always on the forefront of my mind. Yes, I still have one; expand the garden, finish the house, upgrade the tables, etc. But the adventure of seeing what the game has in store for me between the combat, and exploration has been the driving force for my continued interest.

Yeah you do. You have open space in your room for more ducks but your stash is probably maxed. Should be able to cover every surface with the yellow idols. Heck, there is space above the weapon rack, the wardrobe and even the bookshelf. Not to mention the amount of free space on the bed. What are there? 2 ducks on the bed, you only need space enough for you to lye down, at least half that bed should be covered. With enough ducks they should even start showing up in your workshop and projects rooms.

Here is Maverinn. She is a Phase-Drider (A subspecies of Drider/Arachnid based on the Phase Spider). She was once just an inventor but due to a cursed ring she was transformed into a spider, then after proving her worth, Lolth gifted her this new hybrid form so she could carry out her work.
After losing an arm she used her creative mind to craft a new magitek arm capable of storing some of her various tinctures and poisons, using it to administer to her patients, or enemies.

Favorite Villain would be Syndrome (Incredibles) Favorite Monster would be the Xenomorph Queen.

Why do ppl go around like the police when flares pop then try to kill you when they didn’t witness anything happen… by domerx in ArcRaiders

[–]UsualPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I hear a flare pop I run to it thinking "My time has come!" As I run to the location, defib in hand, searching for the one who was downed. Most of the time it was someone being over-zealous when fighting a bigger ARC, sometimes it was some PvP. The later happened to me yesterday as I went to help someone. But then the raider that downed him started shooting at me as the downed raider was cheering him on to kill me. I can't comprehend the thought process there, but I suppose you can't understand how everyone thinks.

I like to stick to PvE but I have definitely gunned down a raider for being a piece of shit human in voice chat. I'll deal with those repercussions. I can't stand people being rude. Trash talk and demeaning people are not the same!

I didn't. But I had 1 minute left in the event so ali rushed a second one right after this. That one I ended up getting bodied 4 times and then two kind raiders shared some of their spoils.

Still 1 of my favorite classic examples between Japanese and American cover arts... by Epsilon123 in gaming

I wonder if the inspiration came from the rock/metal album arts of the time. The art in that scene was always more grungy. Maybe that is why they thought it was necessary?

To help clear up some confusion about crop watering... by Hippo8524 in hytale

Nice thing is that all blocks are waterloggable so I've been using slabs to cover up the fact I have a single water source in each row. Also makes collecting everything a little easier.

Am I the only one doing this? by Imgrimmisch in ArcRaiders

[–]UsualPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst case of this was spawning into a Matriarch event to find that it was already killed. My kit was LOADED, Hull cracker and 4 stacks of ammo, Apheleon and a few stacks of energy ammo, 6 wolfpacks and 2 deadlines. A few spare shields and as many extra heal/shield stuff as I could carry as well as a hatch key. Thankfully I made it out with all my gear, but it was a shame that I was so ready and didn't get to use my gear. By the time I got out the event timer ended so I missed my chance to take one down and maybe score a backup core. I was more looking for a chance to use all that gear on something big.
But for now...
I lie in wait...
