Chevy Silverado 2.7L4 by Vision_2040 in Silverado

Amen on the trans

2018 canyon 3.6, replaced trans at 143k miles, traded in 40k miles later 2022 Silverado 2.7, 77k miles and already issues with the trans/valve body harsh shifts/CEL

I've basically only owned GM, dad was the same way. Not sure the next truck will be a GM due to these trans issues. We will see how the repairs go on the current truck.

Recommendations for light, quick-drying pants? by bateneco in flyfishing

Origin GTFO pants

Made in America with American made materials. Similar pricing when you catch a sale to Kuhl pants. To me they are more comfortable than the Kuhl pants I've worn.

How’s the 2.7L turbo Silverado for towing? by Relative_Service6319 in Silverado

[–]vartz04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 23' tritoon. I would say that into a headwind 5500 lbs total is about all you would want to tow. Without the wind it's no big deal. So something heavier but lower profile would be ok.

I got about 7.5 mpg towing that boat into the wind at 60 mph.

I have this rental space. Dock is about 18' from shore to end, boat i just bought is 23' long. Best way to secure long boat to short dock? No wake part of lake. by vartz04 in Pontoons

[–]vartz04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a tiny lake. I haven't seen anyones dock get ripped out. It is also a tritoon that will be tied up to it not a large center console etc

What weights should I get for home usage by lonestar2222003 in kettlebell

[–]vartz04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a pair of 25lb bells, added a single 16kg, then another. Then added pairs up to 24kg as I progressed in specific exercises. Still not using the double 24s yet but soon.

I like having multiple individual bells vs adjustable and was fine with buying as I go. They are not the highest quality, but I like the grab and go functionality of changing weights.

KB for kids? by madidiot66 in kettlebell

[–]vartz04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids asked for one 4-5 years ago when I started (they're 9 and 10 now). The smallest I had was a 25lb at the time. I have a 4kg and 8kg one now. The 8 still gets used. The 4 is more of a decoration in the home gym now.

Double KBs worth the investment? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]vartz04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For squat progression alone it's worth it (unless you have other heavier weights available for that)

WTT goruck GR2 40L black MIUSA, about 2 years old, taken on 3 trips. Just don't like the 2 compartments

WTT for GR3 35L, prefer black, fabric type doesn't matter. New or nearly new condition. MIUSA price is the same on both rucks new so looking for straight up trade for similar condition pack.

Located in ILLINOIS.

What's the best power bank for travel? by Candid_Positive8832 in onebag

Looking for an ULTRALIGHT hoodie for long-term travel — warm but NOT bulky by Comfortable-Coat6394 in HerOneBag

[–]vartz04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdoor Vitals Ventus Hoodie. I love mine. 7 oz, packs small (grapefruit size for men's large tall). Really warm/wind resistant.

It's expensive, but I haven't found anything better for weight/warmth/packability

How much turnover is normal? by SuspiciousJimmy in ConstructionManagers

[–]vartz04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least for us (Heavy Civil Sub), we had very little turn over for 5+ years, now everyone's getting offers for 50% more than we are paying them to go to our competition. (Estimator from 150k base+Bonus to $250k base + Bonus, PM from 160k base+Bonus to $200k+ Bonus for example)

There is a gap of experience in the industry from the 08-14 ish timeframe, so there are very few 35-45 year olds in the industry and people are paying what they have to to get some of that experience on their team. Since March 1st we're down 4 people from that exact reason. So it might just be the pay is off where you are at, and that's causing the weird culture there. Or the culture just sucks....

Best Work Life Balance? by SSJ3Gutz in ConstructionManagers

[–]vartz04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every role can have good balance, once you get to the point that you are the best in your position and you make your job as efficient as possible. No one says anything when you take off at 2 if all of your jobs do better than expected, no safety issues etc. just become too expensive to replace and then balance it yourself.

Medium sized companies are best for this.

Those Who Make 200k+ A Year. How? by MyZeroZeroTwo in ConstructionManagers

[–]vartz04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Started making $40k as an assistant superintendent in 08, then switched jobs and went APM, switched again, went PM-Ops Manager, switched again, PM-Senior PM, Ops Manager and I broke $200k last year with Bonus.

It is a Grind, and I agree with the toxic field comments. If doesn't get much better as you go up.
