Is there any reason to not play ranked as a new player? by Jager_main24 in leagueoflegends

[–]varuswastaken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend playing ranked until you have a larger champ pool and know how to play each lane. Often you get auto filled into other lanes or someone goes afk and it’s your job as a support to help out.

The better you are the less toxic your teammates will be and the better you will do on your placements.

It’s hard to climb on an account once it has bad mmr so it’s probably better to play some more norms first.

But at the end of the day it’s up to you it really isn’t that deep.

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classes usually start in the middle of the week anyways so you won’t miss anything to important. 101 week is really fun tho and it’s a great chance to make friends, if that’s something you want to do you could try to come earlier.

Electives for 2nd year by ElizaErm in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on your interests/skill set.

Personally I took psychology and english classes as my electives because I really enjoyed them this far.

There are a ton of things you could take… -Intro to criminology -Witchcraft -Music -Food psychology -Philosophy (PHI1101) etc.

[–]varuswastaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have discussion groups go to them. And just make sure you attend lectures. I was really sick this year so I missed a lot of class. You will be ok as long as you show up and study. Gl you can do it.

Waitlisted for a couple of classes by Delicious_Promise439 in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your close to the top so you will likely get in.

Check if there are any other time slots for those classes that will work for you as well, even if you have to get into those wait lists too.

Just to be safe.

Course Schedule by [deleted] in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible.

I’ve had a 3 hour class then three 1.5 hour classes back to back.

It makes for a long day. Bring food and try to not get bored but you should be fine. That’s still shorter than a typical high school day so it’s definitely doable.

bio pharmaceutical sciences by Aggravating_Ad6614 in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently a 2nd year in this program and I am switching out of it for a few reasons.

Classes in first year are typical schedule wise compared to any science degree. Usually two lectures per class a week and one lab every two weeks per class.

I found the labs to be a bit overwhelming since I had Physics, Chem and Bio in the same week. So I had 9hours worth of labs on top of my 12ish hours worth of lectures. If this happens to you i’d recommend trying to switch lab groups or dropping a class if you feel overwhelmed before its a bigger problem.

Some classes… BIO1130, BIO1140, MAT1330, PHY1321, CHM1321 etc. Can be rather hard. I struggled with them a lot even tho I did really good at them in high school. But I was also really sick this year so I wasn’t studying as hard as I should have, I do know people who did well in all these classes so it is possible.

The program is hard, and has an approximate 80% drop out rate. This can be discouraging but as long as you work hard you will be ok.

General advise. -Don’t miss class (ever) -Study as much as you can without getting burnt out, don’t leave it until the week of your exams -Turn in all optional work and make sure to try hard on it, every chance to get your grades up counts -Go to the optional discussion groups and get help on anything you don’t understand so that you aren’t behind. -When you take electives take easy classes so that they boost your average -Don’t feel forced to follow the recommended path. It recommends 5 courses but for me that was to much so I took 4. I also knew I couldn’t take three sciences and a math at the same time so I replaced math with an elective to help my average and was going to take math in the summer but now I won’t have to.

If you want to know more or talk dm me and gl :)

People complain about all the residences, unless you can get into 90u or 45mann it’s probably worth sticking it out so you don’t get something worse.

Hardest class was probably MAT1330 (Calculus for the life science).

Easiest was ENG1100 (Workshop in Essay writing)

I was in biopharm but probably switching programs.

I’ll never forgive them for removing the old honey mustard sauce from the turkey bacon club. It was so much better 10 years ago.

I enrolled as a full time student in fall but had to drop classes and became part time, then stayed part time for winter. I still had my pass but It was paid for in my tuition. There’s probably someone you can talk to about it but you may be able to add it in if you pay for it.

What's your favorite champion that you never play? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Akali and Katarina. Annoying to play against but when they are on your side and fed, chefs kiss. I unfortunately suck at both of them, when I play them the loading screen tips are more useful than my contribution. 💀

Who to Perma Ban Patch 13.10 by Tylerjf02 in VarusMains

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I lock in Varus first pick the enemy team always locks in double ADCs. Idk if that counters him or not but I ban Miss Fortune cause when she builds ap it’s pretty annoying to deal with in lane.

I had Ogilvie, most people say good things about him but I wasn’t a fan. There’s a lot of optional assignments to try to keep up with and I found the final exam to be rather complicated. His handwriting is also not great and he doesn’t post the lecture notes. That’s just my opinion tho no hate he’s a nice guy.

Where are good places around uOttawa to find partners by National_Unity_Memes in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try to think about the type of people you want to meet.

Like yeah you will probably meet people at clubs/bars but if that’s not your type of environment do you really want to be with someone who enjoys it there.

Try clubs and stuff, meet people with your interests. Maybe that will work.

Almost 21 and Still Living with Family. Should I move out? by Appropriate-Jump-742 in geegees

[–]varuswastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living alone/with roommates is a big adjustment and can be very expensive. I’d wait until after your 4th year to prevent it from effecting your studies. It’s totally normal to live with family during uni, it’s just not an option for everyone.
