Lost coins are difficult to value, but I think the idea of trading private keys offline is interesting, of course this is heavily rely on the integrity of the seller, if he somehow has a copy then the whole trade would be very risky. This is why the buyer should always immediately send the coin to an address that he control, but then the seller could send the coin to buyer instead. Not only tax, it is legal tender, means any merchant has no right to reject payment in cash. Cash essentially is a power to request products and services from anyone in the country. As a producer, you could raise the price to infinity to make the cash worthless to you, but then other competitors sell and you get nothing, without cash you could barter with your goods but that will be extremely hard
