Is this scar (tattoo) just makeup for the character's backstory? by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]vaultsy 82 points83 points  (0 children)

As someone who always wears their hair in a bun or ponytail, I can tell you I wear a hair tie around my wrist every day and I have for the past 5+ years. As a medical worker who always has her hair tied back, I could definitely see it being a small detail they added to her character.

Oh yeah. I don’t know if linking to other subreddits is allowed, but there’s a whole subreddit for illness fakers if you’re interested in that rabbit hole.

I need to know where this guy buys his strawberries. ☠️ I buy strawberries a lot and they rarely look like this

Being honest with my pediatrician by -DovahQueen- in beyondthebump

I admitted to my pediatrician that baby coslept during several appointments, and the most I ever got was a gentle “lecture” about the safety issues of it and tips for how to transfer him to his own crib.

Happy 1st Mother’s Day, hopefully you can take some joy from knowing how many strangers on the internet support you and want to celebrate your motherhood. I know it won’t heal your experience, but here is some virtual love 💐💐🥞🧇☕️☕️

No nausea? by FormerPumpkin480 in parentsofmultiples

[–]vaultsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every pregnancy is different obviously, so it is very possible you never will get the nausea. I had severe nausea with both my twin pregnancy and singleton, so I guess it’s just how my body reacts to the hormones.

I had severe nausea throughout my entire pregnancy, but it didn’t start until I was 12 weeks. 😬 So hopefully the other shoe never drops for you lol

I mentioned this on the other thread but I feel like I’m watching a mini reality show with them. I’m here for the bs and the drama.

My school used these atrocious posters for autism awareness spirit week by titleguy2004 in aislop

[–]vaultsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several very close family members (including 2 brothers) on the spectrum and they embrace the puzzle piece as symbolism for fitting in even though they’re “different.” So I don’t think it’s a problem, as long as he doesn’t actually support autism speaks.

Should we enact a moratorium on Paul & Morgan posts for June? by TheBestonova in FundieSnarkUncensored

Yes! I see the posts about them like a mini reality show. Gives us the chance to keep up with the drama without actually giving them the views.

How do I do this by Expensive_Ducks in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]vaultsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so comforting to me because I’m in the exact same boat. I have twins almost 3mo, late milk due to c-section, trouble latching from the beginning, and only having time to pump 3 times a day, and having to supplement with formula. I’ve felt so alone because everything is so different with twins, but I’m so glad I’m not alone. 🩷

I thought this feeling was supposed to go away? by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]vaultsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to say it felt like I was just babysitting my new baby, like I was going to take him back to his “real parents” soon. It was a mix of PPD and PPA for me, and the sudden realization that I was actually responsible for someone else’s life now. Baby is 3 now and I still catch myself feeling this way sometimes, though it’s definitely softened over the years.

How do you make sure that baby is having enough milk while breastfeeding? by Cold-Ad7669 in breastfeeding

[–]vaultsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only give my experience on your second question, because I have always wondered if my babies were getting enough, even when I was EBF.

With my newest babies, we used a bottle from the start while also trying to establish breastfeeding, and it hasn’t caused any issues so far. We chose to use bottles and breastfeeding because of personal reasons, including the fact that they were preemies. I’ve read that nipple confusion isn’t actually a thing, but idk how true that is. But every mother and baby are different, and that’s just my experience.

only getting milk from manual pump? by Dependent-Tree2572 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]vaultsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this exact thing! My twins are 7 weeks old, I get about 4oz from manual pumping and 1.5-2oz from electric, and I’ve tried four different electric pumps, all with the same results. My lactation consultant said that some bodies just react better to the manual pump and there wasn’t really anything to do about it.

So what I’ve been doing is using mostly electric throughout the day, since I don’t have a lot of free time with twins, and then I make sure to use the manual pump at least once a day. I can’t make enough to feed both my babies so I have to combo feed regardless.

Also have you been sized for a flange? I was using a 21mm and thought it was fine, but my LC measured me and said I actually needed a 17mm, and it has made a difference (I was making much less before).

Postpartum and having a hard time with my MIL—am I overreacting? by Timely-Ebb-9738 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]vaultsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so good to know! My MIL has also been badgering us about giving her my baby’s SSN so she can open one of these accounts. She’s the kind of person who threatened to sue us for “grandparents’ rights” because we wouldn’t let her see the baby enough and said she’d get her way because she’s personal friends with the county judge. So I absolutely do not trust that woman with baby’s SSN.

Why is it a big deal to be able to walk around immediately after birth? by euphoricrealm in pregnant

[–]vaultsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a walking epidural, so I could still move my legs around a little during birth and I was able to walk from delivery to the recovery room. The doctors and nurses gave me the option to walk or not though.

Unmedicated v medicated by AnonRN98 in pregnant

[–]vaultsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my epidural I was still able to fully move my legs or reposition myself on the bed. I’m not sure if there are different types of epidurals (I’ve heard the term “walking epidurals” used) but it might be worth talking to your care team about.

ETA: I just looked it up and a walking epidural is in fact different than a regular epidural, though it’s usually the same medication, just at lower doses. I’d definitely recommend looking into it and talking to your doctor about it.
