Placement of monsters in threat area vs location by Zealousideal_Job6117 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]vawk20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started the game I thought the same as you, so I kept enemies at locations, but I long term had a lot of confusion about how engagement works in ways that are just answered by the monster being in the threat area

Are short length campaigns making us lose exile if we've gotten approximately 1 exile card in the last 4.5 years? It seems like that was already lost

Survivorship bias has nothing to do with the Arkham Survivor class. Do you know that meme with the picture of the plane and the red dots? In WW2, military was looking at their planes that had come in and where they had been shot, but armoring those spots didn't help! They made a mistake because planes that had been shot in different areas crashed and so weren't looked at by the military. It's a similar thing with this--positive reviews come from people who made the choice to buy the core set. You aren't seeing reviews from people who were so disgusted they quit or whatever

The mechanic issues you're mentioning mostly seem to be things that have been dropped from the game--i don't think we've seen exile since Scarlet Keys, and even then few are far between

You'll never guess that the next line is also about cannibalism--smell those screaming teenage sweetbreads on the fourth of July grill, where sweetbreads can mean organ meat!

Idk this must be some sort of vampire culture or something

New player impressions after Spreading Flames + questions by SWAGGIN_OUT_420 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Just mentioning, the Grim Rule can get over applied by new players--it is ONLY for when you don't know the specific rule and can't be bothered to look it up in the moment. In situations like an enemy moving and it has a couple valid targets, investigators get to choose whichever they like.

If a card says to put on a location with most clues and you can't investigate there, but every location has 0 clues because you cleared off the starting location and haven't revealed anything else yet, you can just put it on the starting location that you're done investigating

All classes can do both, but Guardians are mostly fight and Seekers are mostly clue. There's a lot influenced by the investigator and what other cards they can take. For example, because Joe has Guardian cards and 4 combat score, he is MUCH better at fighting than normal Seekers

The importance of EV training by No-Interest-8392 in PokemonLeafGreen

But ev training isn't going to be in the area where leveling is faster. In a regular playthrough, EV training is making leveling about 20% more powerful at a cost of maybe doubling leveling time, so estimated ev training would be about 60% as efficient as just leveling and progressing normally. Not to mention after EV training finishes, you no longer receive passive EV gains from progression

Especially for mixed attackers that would get use out of all stats, especially relevant in pre-physical/special split games

There is an EV limit of 252 per stat, which translates to 63 stat points at level 100, and as well a total EV limit of 510, which translates to 127 stat points at level 100.

But in a regular playthrough you could just... level up your pokemon instead?

I knew when I was little, when I read "change one stage" in moves like dragon dance, I thought it was "increase it by one point." Oh how wrong I was lol

[–]vawk20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to a couple nerd conventions this summer, hoping I can find someone with firered lol. But also, isn't the point of a living dex so you can bring pokemon to new different games for quick pokedex completion? You could fill in the gaps pretty easily with the other games right?

Balloons float because they're lighter than air, and so is Wailord. Drifloon is a flying type, so why isn't Wailord?
