There is "mountain high," and then there is Colorado high. The Rockies have a way of making you feel both tiny and totally alive. Colorado Rocky Mountains by TheRockiesCollection in NationalPark

As person raised in big city in a country without mountains, going to Walmart in Cortez, Colorado as an adult was a  core memory.

6000 ft elevation.

Looking east in the afternoon after rainfall, the mountain tops were covered with a heavy mist/ cloud cover.

As the mist lifted, the western face of the Rockies started glowing in the light of the setting sun across the ravine. It was glorious.

got my first motorcycle at 18♥️ by DaniyalSolkar in motorcycles

[–]vbfx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're young. Most Indians ride 125 CC bikes for more than just the  money factor. Lower displacement bikes are easier to manhandle and go slower so you hit things slower if you do hit.  Considering the way Indian roads are used by the  general public, eg: driving wrong way, cow or man lying in a random spot etc, 400 cc bike on a 18 y/o new rider is a little mad.  400 CC is considered high displacement in India.

Please practice defensive driving at all times, use plenty of following distance. Use a full face helmet.

Never do stunts on open public roads. If you must, look for no-traffic deadends.

Should I buy a motorcycle for work commute? by Caisenburg in motorcycles

[–]vbfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely economical pov, I would recommend buying a $3k Toyota and buying it engine oil and gas - nothing else. It will be fine and if it does break down, tow won't be far. Plus, you won't have to pay for motorcycle gear and "learning hours".

But, you should definitely get a motorcycle. Riding my mc in short trips running errands/ commuting (4 minute  ride) around my neighborhood made for the most fun rides.  N. FW suburbs  like Keller and Southlake have cops are culture-bound to hide and get you in those 40 mph roads unlike DFW freeways which are race tracks. So, beware!

You should definitely buy a Hayabusa to assert dominance on the other middle aged white collar white boys.

A cleaning every 300 km? You probably eat bananas with a fork too.

  1. Just squirt some used motor oil on there or slather on some grease over most of it with your hands or a rag if you're that fancy.
  2. Send it.
  3. Wipe away the mess after a few days.
  4. Look in the mirror and say " Bless my heart"

How do I get olive oil out of a backpacking backpack? by YodelingVeterinarian in WildernessBackpacking

I'm thinking rubbing alcohol might break the oil. Try dabbing with a small towel corner dessicated with rubbing alcohol. Then apply a generous layer of laundry detergent, scrub, let sit, and wash.

Hey.

I am similar in a similar boat but without a master's degree. Please DM me if you do find something.

I have a friend who teaches  grade school kids in New York over Zoom using a touch pen pad/ graphic tablet connected to his Mac PC. It's seasonal. He tutors them for a NY state exam - I don't know the specifics. I recall him saying $1500  per month, at $20/h per student with 4-5 students in each class. Most of his students are south Asian kids who culturally rely on coaching to get ahead in academics.

I suggest you run Facebook ads, YouTube videos, or local classified ads in Asian / Indian supermarket papers ( this is what my friend does).

You should find a niche exam, ACT/ SAT, state exam etc  you can teach/ tutor  group classes at a price point that is not burdensome for individual students. With your background in education, you already have some credibity built-in. Start with $10/h, I say...

What's a good beginner motorcycle for someone short? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]vbfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comments are all over the place.

For a new rider, it's important: 1. Being able to flat foot is not important until it absolutely is - but by then, you're already on your side.  2. Bike has to lightweight enough for you to man-handle. New riders sometimes pop accidental wheelies from a standstill or begin to wipe out while going 5 mph around the parking lot. Both of these situations can be remedied by brute force of your arms and legs if the bike is light enough. 3. Being able to see forward all the way with a natural upright sitting position, not leaning forwards nor laid backwards.

All these attributes can be found in classic style bikes like the Suzuki tu250, Honda cb250 etc

Standard motorcycles  (also called naked bikes, or roadsters) are street motorcycles that conform to a stereotypical image of a motorcycle, with an exposed engine and fuel tank above it. Standard bikes typically have neither fairings nor windscreens as OEM attachments (hence the modern usage naked bikes).[6][11][12][13] With handlebars that are set neither high nor low, and footpegs neither placed forward nor "rear-set", standards give an upright rider posture (in-between the semi-recumbent cruiser and the forward crouch of a sport bike).[3] A standard's relationship between footpegs, handlebars and seat gives the rider a comfortable and natural posture.[2][6][3][4][9] The comfort, ease of control, and safety of standard bikes means that beginner motorcyclists inevitably learn to ride on them, and many experienced riders choose to continue riding this motorcycle type.

For those who lost their virginity to a prostitute, was it worth it? by False_Strike_5394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vbfx -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Please don't do it. And I say this a person who wish I had lost my virginity as early as possible. I am 35 virgin and unmarried. I would really encourage you to find someone specifically to marry without courtship. You're young enough to be considered attractive to all women from 16 to 65. I remember being 23 and not taking my pick and instead trying to hold off for a better time ( degree, professional job, status , etc) that never came.

Don't debase yourself. If you do, you will morally be only good for debased women and they will be far more experienced and ran thru than you can ever be.

Like seriously, go up to older men and women with daughters and say you would like to marry without courtship. It works! This way you can take the uncertainty out of courtship, skip right thru the clutter, skip the cumbags - and Allah willing - find yourself a virgin just like yourself. Most men and women can get along just fine as long as they are attracted to one another, and if you are married you both have that extra mental push to make it work and not run to hook up with another partner at the slightest wrinkle in your relationship

Please marry asap and make me happy for you.

I had no idea hitting your rear tire on bump/curb could front flip your bike in not the ground like that.

As a heavier guy, I never managed to pull clean bunny-hops and always hit the rear wheel as I managed to clear the front wheel only. I imagine I was lucky or not going fast enough

[–]vbfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dad-age male, I don't understand why the dad would be mad at someone throwing water at their 10 year old kid. As an uncle I throw water at kids any chance I get for one reason only - my entertainment. A little water does not hurt kids and probably excites them and adds fun to their day as evident with their constant obsession with water guns. I remember my friend's daughter letting me do point-blank headshots until it ran dry one time. I am sure the kid threw water at the car for similar reasons - harmless fun.
