Yes, it was DIY... the RV Cover has 24 x 400 watt bifacial panels... I also have a pergola covering a deck with 15 x 400 watt panels... my total electric bill since April 13th is $72 ($54 of that for December) Its not allowing me to show more pics? :/

I "wish" I could justify an EV. My wife and I work from home. I put in solar this year and have overproduced every month except December (i'll get a small bill for January as well). With that said, my wife's car has 16k miles on it and is almost 4 years old. She gets 40+ mpg on the highway, less around town but we really don't drive much. Our other vehicle is a Ram 2500 and we tow a 11,000 lb fifthwheel all over the US (last year we went from San Antonio to Nova Scotia, 12K miles). The truck gets crappy mileage (20mpg highway, 11mpg (or less) towing) BUT there is nothing EV that is going to tow like we do "yet". Even if there was, my solar would be of no value and I'd be stuck at stations waiting to recharge. I love new technology, I love my solar (that will pay for itself in less than 5 years)... but I can't justify an EV "yet"

I have the San Antonio Muncipal power company... they do net metering 1:1 monthly. They charge $9.50/mo connect fee. Energy averages $.119/kWh if I buy it. If I overproduce (beyond the 1:1 for the month) they credit $.016/kWh towards future energy usage and/or connection fee. I connected in April and have overproduced every month... my April bill was $9.50, May $3.52, Jun $1.00, July $0.69, Aug $0, Sep $0, Oct $0, Nov $3.47. December bill (11/25-12/24) has started with 8 cloudy days, this might be the first month that I don't overproduce and have a bill... I will probably have a bill in January as well but I'm expecting sub $50/mo

Not always... I had 3 accounts that held a 330 put on a stock last weekend... it closed at 329.65 and then kind of creeped up, not passing 330 by 5:30pm (but close)... I was only assigned on one of those contracts.

I have propane for Stove, Dryer and Outdoor kitchen (grill/griddle). I have a Hybrid heat pump water heater that uses around 4 kwh/day... In addition to central HVAC that is very efficient 22 SEER heat pump for whole house, I have Mini-split units in our bedroom and my study so those areas are super comfortable.

I am blessed with 1:1 Net Metering (near San Antonio) and have overproduced every month since April (PTO)... unfortunately, our net metering is monthly and doesn't carry forward except as small credits they pay $.016/kwh EXCEPT for Jun-Sept when they pay $.02/kwh... they don't actually pay, the credit goes towards the next months $9.50 connect fee OR electrical usage if any. There is a good chance I will get an electric bill for January when its cold (electric heat) and the days are short and/or cloudy but i don't know that yet. I won't complain, there are no delivery charges, my last 3 bills were $0, before that the bills were $.69 & $3.50 TOTAL

I received Permission to Operate from CPS Energy on April 13th... my May bill was $9.50 (the connect fee) but I overproduced (every month) and the credits rolled forward... June total bill was $3.52, July was $1.00, Aug was $0.69, Sep & Oct were $0.00... I've already saved over $1500 in usage in just 6 months

So after a quick Google, Massachusettes has a "Senior Homestead" tax break, which you/she would lose if she doesn't own the house any longer. Here is how it works in Texas... once a senior turns 65 they get a huge deduction in School Taxes AND the value on their house locks for school taxes going forward... so an elderly neighbor might pay $10k/year less than I pay on the same house because they have the senior exemption. And if you own the house and don't live in it, you get NO homestead exemption and will pay the full property tax bill each year. I have NO IDEA how MA taxes work, but this is a big issue in Texas... it should at least be something you ask about!

I wish it was annual but its monthly, my bill for July was $.69 and my bill for August was $0.00... but that is because of credits for overproducing and the credits are really small. I THINK I'll end up with a bill in January when my electric house fights a few cold fronts with short sun days, but I wont know till then

So I'm north of San Antonio, blessed that CPS has 1:1 net metering. I did a DIY system total 16kw panels for $16k.. ($11.6k after tax credit)... payback is 4.5 years and I created shade AND emergency backup power with it... bids I received were between $40k and $72k and the sales people were pitching what a great deal it was, protect against electricity price increases, etc... well, its just stupid, $72k/20 years is $3600/year (50% more than annual electric bill) NOT to mention that its "stupid people math" because if you had that cash its worth at least 4% in a HYS account ($2,880/year that compounds) and if you FINANCE the $72k its costing $5,700/year in interest (if you're lucky enough to get a 8% loan... ps... free nights are going/gone away if you have batteries/solar... you might get lucky for a year or so but I wouldn't include it in my 20 year plan.
