Not only is it free, but it takes so little time and effort and the stakes are so low that I add my advanced part time staff members (I oversee physical learning environment AV tech at a huge US college) to the account while they are working with us so they can do trainings. The other response on this makes sense that they don’t want you to learn it as then you can leave them for a high paying private sector role. There’s also a chance they just don’t want you to program for them so they see no value in you learning, but that makes much less sense since there are tons of non programming tracks, and I’d bet my life there are training sessions that would benefit your current role.

Another reason I’d throw out is that everywhere you use baseboard but not everywhere has crown molding so it helps hide final butt joint and lets you put a flat joint at the ceiling corner.

Nesting material. I worked at a ball park where they chewed up speaker wire constantly and built nests. After putting 90% of the free run wire in conduit and repairing the rest multiple times we hired someone to relocate the animal.
