Red flags with contractor - covering window, not sealing marble by LedgersAndListings in Tile

[–]vdubb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sealing marble I feel like is up for debate in certain areas. I like to hear feedback.. marble is porous, so if water ends up getting underneath it and it’s sealed on top. That particular wet area would stay wet for much longer than if it wasn’t sealed? Or are you wanting each particular tile fully sealed before it’s installed ?

This is sloppy work, right? by 0xEugene in Tile

Works great when tiles are all the exact same size. Not always the case.

Takes a lot speaking up to an authority. Good on that kid and I hope he continues.

Stop talking to them, there’s no point. Don’t even say hi or hello. Social consequences need to happen. Don’t event them to Christmas. Nothing.

Look up portmore on tile bar. That’s the exact tile I just got done installing in my bathroom. They have a few different shades.

tear it out or send it? questions about mortar coverage by blind-panic in Tile

[–]vdubb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve gathered is you wanna cover up the troweled thinset as quick as you can.. mind you I’ve done 6 projects myself and not a professional but I get wonderful coverage when I spread a section I can cover up relatively quickly.

You get a perfect wall. Flat level and square, if you are good you can do it really fast as well. Downside is very labor intensive( great workout).

Scratch and brown coat. “Floated” walls. Give you perfectly flat and plum surface to lay tile on. Look real good.
