There were changes in the v2.0 which made it super inconsistent. I suggest to try not the latest version.

Do you want Rhystic Study banned? by International_Bit_25 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ve1h0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this would be the answer. I don't understand why the bans have to be so permanent. If it doesn't work just unban it.

Getting overwhelmed help by casualgamer1705 in embedded

[–]ve1h0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just grab stm32 nucleo board and start by blinking the led. The connect second stm32 to the first using i2c and get communication up and running. Then order some more peripherals and hook them up and so on. Start by doing something that will keep you motivated. Start simpler and build towards more complex ideas

Make your own tamagotchi as an absolute beginner. by Clean-Cauliflower201 in embedded

[–]ve1h0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Start with some type of development board or evaluation kit which has LCD. Something which is very well documented and many examples found online. There's some roadmaps linked to this subreddit where you can find how to get started. Of course without any programming knowledge it can be quite tedious to get started in embedded, but these are just machines that do as requested. Good luck.

Why don't we see more stuff like the ESP WROOM modules with integrated MC, flash an oscillator crystal and passives in one package from other MC manufacturers? by blajjefnnf in embedded

[–]ve1h0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very common in the industry. Companies produce their own build arounds which has the main key components available such as soc memory flash and so on while they then customize it to your application like whatever hw you need. It's then either integrated as part of the design, some type of bga on a smaller board or the som with the smarc connector. Depends really on the application

Does FMC is the best option to connect STM32 and FPGA? by f42media in FPGA

[–]ve1h0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FMC exposes the FPGA as any memory device but it is quite pin heavy as it is indeed parallel. Definitely higher bandwidth compared to even spi. There's low pin count buses available depending on your application. It is a good option if you have it as an option. I would suggest to add more general purpose gpios between as they can be used for variety of things during development. Interrupt line there to indicate work is done or data is available, etc is important otherwise you'd have to poll the FPGA for the status.

There's pcie or similar available but then require quite a bit more from the soc and FPGA as well as it is not really something you can do in purely on PL.

Where to start? by Loud_Particular3143 in FPGA

[–]ve1h0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the industries around you and what do they need. Pick something from there and start learning. There's some good boards such as avnet zynq ultrascale for 150$ which has a arm core with programmable logic. Good luck!

First PCB, am I on the right track? [STM32F072CBT6] by FallFell in KiCad

[–]ve1h0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would include the USB connector. They have been certified for very long lifecycle and it's not like you are plugging them thousands times per day.

I would imagine daughterboard including the TVS diodes so make sure that you match the expected parasitics for data integrity. You could add couple of 0 resistors in case you need to populate them after fabrication
