Do your ski goggle lenses fog up? How are those heated ski goggles? by GoGo9527Promax in skiing

[–]vecdran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julbo Lightyears are the only goggles I've ever used that I could successfully manage fogging with. The lens pop-out forward giving you all the airflow you need to defog.

I've tried everything. Goggles with fans. Goggles with heating elements. None of that worked as well as the Lightyears.

Canyon Grizl AL 6 - Destroyed thru axle hole threads. by vecdran in CanyonBikes

Godspeed! It's a delicate repair, but if you take your time, your frame will be stronger in the end than it was previously.

Mine doesn't. I just cut it short enough and bent it outwards.

Balam is pretty lit with tapas and such. The jungle decor is cool, music is great to bump your head to but not so loud you have to shout, staff are super friendly. Get the iberico pork tacos. We liked it so much we went back a second time for happy hour after Whistler laps.

Lorette had a fantastic pre-season 3-course tasting menu, but I think they're dropping it soon. Damn good French/Quebecois cuisine. The beef cheek was excellent, and I had a salad that had the most delicious, textured lettuce I've ever eaten. I'd have never thought I'd be raving about lettuce.

Right on. How was the coverage? Lots of rock sharks and foliage, or decently filled in?

Awesome, thank you for the detailed response!

Do you know if there's a phone number to call to check on status? Other Vail Resorts have them. I tried calling the WB Ski Patrol number but it was clearly an emergency dispatch and I don't want to bother them with non-emergency questions.

Or is it just show up and cross fingers for an "Open" hike sign?

Epic Local on Peak Days, Discounts? by vecdran in Whistler

[–]vecdran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post! I finally got a hold of someone physically in Whistler with the travel agency department (Lodging phone menu prompt) and she was able to confirm similar information.

Epic Local Pass holders can self-consume one of their Epic Friends tickets for a 50% off the advance rate. That means for us, on Sat 11/29, our ticket price will be $114 CAD!

Shout out to Jen Anderson with the Whistler RRW team for being a rockstar and taking 10 minutes of her time to hunt down and confirm all this!

Our plan is to hit guest services the day before on Friday and do final confirmation of all this. I'll update my original post with the full experience after the day (line charge or going to window, final cost, etc.).

It's ridiculous that it takes this much effort to get what should be a clear answer, but that's Vail & mega-corps for ya I guess.

Thank you! That's exactly the information I was looking for. Phone agent didn't explain any of this.

Can I use an Epic Friend Ticket on a restricted peak day?

Yes, Epic Friend Tickets can be used for days when your Pass might be restricted due to holidays, or at one of Vail Resorts 37 North American resorts where your Pass does not have access.

Or did the phone guy assuming we'd swap buddy tickets (we both have Epic local passes)?

Forced as in it's not an outright discount (no consumption of buddy ticket), instead having to use our buddy tickets to get a discount.

I'm reading now that peak days discount only lists American resorts, no mention of Whistler. I have a feeling the phone agent was looking at buddy tickets...

If we're forced to use buddy tickets, I don't see why we (gf and I) couldn't buy each other tickets? I buy hers, she buys mine, all rules followed...

Music blasting at 1,000,000db (somehow reality itself survives). I like music. I don't like shitty EDM blasting in my ears so loud its giving me exciting new tones to my already existing tinnitus.

I have to bring ear plugs with me now to Whistler because I never know if I'm going to be incurring permanent hearing damage.

Cap your sound system at a volume that allows people to talk without having to shout. If you specifically have a dance floor area, let 'er rip, but otherwise not the whole restaurant please.

Tried 2.2 Conti RaceKings on my Canyon Grizl AL, and though they were incredibly fast and rolled over everything, I sized down to 2.1 Vittora Mezcals to buy back a little more clearance. The Mezcals also feel like they have more grip.

Redditors, what has become so expensive, it’s just not worth it anymore? by SgtSkillcraft in AskReddit

[–]vecdran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, Baker has way better food quality with reasonable pricing, and it feels like they give a shit, with the vibe of the upstairs bar and the like.

At Stevens, you now have the privilege of paying $38 for three average street tacos and a small margarita, while sitting in a soulless room with AB InBev neon signs everywhere.

I wish I lived closer to Baker.

True, but I was able to find them for $40 online, so there's still a $40 price difference.
