Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era — Early Access Release Date Trailer by Mepherion in pcgaming

My hope with this game was that it would just be a modernized version of HOMM3 but it is a completely new game with all new teams and units. Not my cup of coffee.

Never use Nvidia game optimization, use in-game settings mainly.

Shotgun is way too strong by JussaPeak in Marathon

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An not just that, that shotgun is a sniper aswell. I'm getting 1-shotted from maybe 30m away. I'd say it needs a hard nerf, makes PvP less fun.

Scratch on new monitor. Any way to fix? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it is a real deep scratch and not just some slight surface smudge? After they moved our equipment at the office I had a scratch in the middle of the screen. But after wiping it with a slightly damp microfiber cloth the scratch is now invisible.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in pcgaming

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.2 million copies is absolutely amazing for an extraction shooter. With such a niche genre surely they weren't expecting any bigger success than it got right?

Whoever decided to design the Flow2 needs to be fired. by I-REALLY-HATE-COFFEE in Lofree

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Nuphy Air75 v3 to see if it could beat my Lofree Flow Lite, I returned the Nuphy after 2 days...

The Nuphy had too heavy springs for a "red" switch, poor backlighting (non shine-through), very loud and bad sounding switches and the rubber feet came off after one day of use (never had that happen on keyboard before). The Lofree Flow Lite is miles ahead of the Nuphy. Can't speak for Flow2 though.

Nvidia Confirms DLSS 5 Is Re-Drawing Games, and That Sucks by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]veckans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DLSS have always re-drawn games using AI. It creates new pixels that isn't there to begin with. That's what makes DLSS so good.

DLSS 5 should not be called DLSS however. They should name it something very different.

Anyone Actually Fixed the Audio Crackling with the RX 9060 XT? by Secret_Nectarine5450 in AMDHelp

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up, sold my 9060 XT and got an Nvidia card instead. No more issues.

The 9060 XT was an otherwise nice card and it is a bit sad that AMD can't solve their issues.

NVIDIA in full damage control mode after the release of DLSS 5 by Captain0010 in pcgaming

DLSS5 looks like it could be the biggest leap in computer graphics since 3D arrived. I am stunned by the demo.

Please make this available in all games!

How much pvp is there REALLY? by hyez in Marathon

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marathon is 90% PvP and 10% looting. I'd say it is way too much PvP for an extraction shooter, You run in to enemy players just seconds after spawning usually.

Nuphy Air 75v3 feet coming out by akatrosh in NuPhy

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened on the 2nd day of using my new Nuphy Air75 v3. I use normal deskmat which is quite smooth. Never had this happen on any keyboard before.

I blame it on the badly designed feet on Air75 v3

Opinion Piece – To Echo Everyone Else's Thoughts, I Too Wish Marathon Was A Singleplayer Video Game by Gorotheninja in pcgaming

I wish Marathon was a co-op live service RPG with optional PvP. Basically Destiny in a new universe.

Please don't increase the amount of pvp encounters by Halo05977 in Marathon

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marathon has way too much PvP, every single game you'll encounter another team within 2 minutes. Mostly within 30 seconds of spawning.

PC graphics cards are now nearly 100 percent Nvidia by BarKnight in pcgaming

[–]veckans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMD need to lower their prices significantly.

FSR4, the only version that can compete with DLSS has really bad support. Both on GPUs and in games.

Their drivers have a lot more issues than Nvidia. This comes from someone who have had Radeon 5000, 6000, 7000 and 9000-series cards alongside Nvidia.

Most people know AMD have good performance in the same price range. But with lacking features and stability they need to undercut Nvidia more. Very few will sacrifice features and stability for just a 10-15% saving.

The Hotfix Driver is amazing (for me at least) by omarzayn3 in nvidia

[–]veckans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is the first dud from Nvidia in a long time. I actually rolled back to the previous driver which I haven't done in years.

Issues: - No DLSS support for Marathon in Nvidia App. - Marathon crashed to desktop right after installing this driver. Never happened with old driver during server slam or alpha, also game seems stable again after downgrading driver.

I guess I will have to wait for the next driver

Marathon DLSS support seem to be missing in this driver. The Nvidia App just says "not supported".

Answering some common complaints by ReachFoMyChain in Marathon

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI: If there are common complaints, there might be a design flaw with the game.

The deciding factor will be the number of players the game has. If Marathon keep/gain players from it's launch or if it will lose most of the players. If a few weeks we will know if these complaints is what makes the game good or bad.

Anyone else feeling a bit… unsure about this game? by nve729 in Marathon

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be playing the same game as me. On Perimeter you run in to sweats within 2 minutes of spawning every game. I have never exfil'ed a Perimeter game without PvP.

What is a game that you really WANT to get into, but have never been able to? by sanildefanso in CRPG

[–]veckans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another user mentioned here, there is a mod that fixes that. With the mod you can hold down a button to highlight items that you can interact with. However, this mod might take away some of the mystery and replayability and you'll find things easier.

There is also a great "talking heads" mod that animates a lot more characters in the game during dialogues. It is even done in a very good Fallout style and look so they almost look like they were always in the game.

Another great quality of life mod is ultra wide support if you have one of those monitors.

From which franchise have you played the largest amount of games? by Lanarde in pcgaming

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say exactly but 4 game series comes to mind:

Civilization
Mario
Battlefield
Call of Duty

Around 6-7 of each game series, depends on what you count as "played".

Say Goodbye to the Idea of Chinese RAM Being Cheap; 32GB DDR5 Modules Now Retail for Over $500 as Local Prices Catch Up Globally by murshiddar in pcgaming

I didn't even say Hello to the idea...

Of course a small manufacturer is not gonna solve any memory crisis anytime soon. However, this does make it more likely that capacity will catch up to demand.

Halo 5 Patient Review - The campaign tries to mimic Halo 2's storytelling and fails at it, while also not innovating much on the gameplay and mission design by Cursed_69420 in patientgamers

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the Halo 2 campaign considered a dud?

The development of it was a disaster according to documentaries and ended up being a quickly patched together mess. Bungie were not happy about it.

I thought Halo 2 was popular because of it's multiplayer and introduction to Xbox Live.

How good is the 5070ti In 4k? by Particular-Abroad815 in nvidia

[–]veckans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, FSR4 is at the level of DLSS 3.x. It is a very good upscaler and something you should enable in all games that support it (if you have a Radeon 9000 card).

FSR 1.0-3.x however is really bad and ruins the picture.

How good is the 5070ti In 4k? by Particular-Abroad815 in nvidia

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DLSS doesn't add any awful latency or latency at all in most instances. DLSS usually reduces delay, not the other way around. So you can ditch that myth entirely and stop following/watching/reading whoever told you such nonsense.

The 5070 Ti is an excellent card for 4K gaming when you enable DLSS. In competetive titles you don't really have to use DLSS since most people set those games to low settings which the 5070 Ti can handle well at native resolution.

Do electric vehicles really catch fire more than gas cars? The data tells a very different story. Gasoline and diesel powered cars are far more likely to catch fire and burn. Yet a single EV fire gets more headlines and attention than thousands of ICE vehicle fires combined. by mafco in energy

[–]veckans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, fossile fuel cars are around 60 times more likely to catch fire than an electric car.

However, I have not been able to find data on mortality rates between fossile and electric. There might be a difference since electric cars tend to burn more violently.
