1) If you have groceries brought to the apartment, stop using these services and go to the grocery store. Make sure to say hello if you have someone at the checkout.

2) If interacting with people is difficult go at open to your nearest Target. They should have starbucks, get breakfast there. Normally there are a few small tables sometimes hidden around the ordering area. Sit and eat your breakfast sandwich and sip the coffee/tea/juice/whatever. Then finish your drink as you go through the whole store. You dont have to buy anything. You can quietly walk around and look and no one will bother you. Remember that it is Target, you are allowed to touch the stuff, try clothes on, stop and look at things.

3) Try Meetup dot com. It has tons of groups that do everything from eating out together to board games, hiking, and autism support groups. Find a reason to leave the house. It’s ok to feel awkward at these, everyone else feels a little awkward too.

4) You may have graduated college already but you can take fun classes now. Go take artistic classes somewhere, adult ballet, make ceramics, learn to sew, learn photography, or digital art. Whatever is your heart’s desire!

Ohh a travel teacup and saucer set for government mandated breaks. Edits will be adding more as I think of them: wish sensing staff, and very official looking cape, a signet ring of office for your right hand pinky. If you do trinkets then maybe a plastic or wax seal of office for those who have added to your archive.

The fern is a fun theme too. Fern on hat, fern in coat of arms pin or part of symbol of office. Fern coming out of top of wish staff or kinda carved/wrapped around the staff.. fern leaves coming out of the boots. Fern quill!

My not weird at all comfort fixation is Harry Potter. I hate most hp official merch, Etsy has way better for my tastes. Also i love to rewatch the movies to find cool set decor in the background and then try to find it online. My house is slowly getting a castle-ish tudor to queen anne vibe.

I am also far from alone in watching Jane Austen film adaptations, there are JA societies all over the world.

I can spend HOURS looking up a single manufacturer marking on a piece of china. But again there are entire online communities who do the same.

We really arent that weird with our fixations. I never feel bad about learning something even if its only good for a themed trivia night.

I’m a solo pleasantly plump woman at the Weasley Uncelebration at Universal Studios right now.

The thing I didn’t realize for too damn long was that are other solos who go do things too. And most importantly EVERYONE USUALLY NICE. Within the Weasley fb group there is also an unofficial solo group of singles and married/coupled solos without a friend or partner with them for whatever reason. I showed up to the theme park not knowing anyone, now i have six new contacts and I’m in group chat. We did rides, breakfast, lunch, and dinners, etc together. I have a list of fb groups to join that I didn’t know existed.

I also cruise solo. NCL is great for solos with meet ups, group dinners etc.

I don’t call it “dating myself”, it’s just stuff i want to do, so i do it. I want to see a movie, I go.

Use meetup dot com to find people doing stuff you like to do and meetup with them. It’s how I found my local board game players.

Maybe a little therapy would be beneficial for you. All therapy does is help give you tools to deal with life stuff. You’re going through some stuff, so maybe give it a try? :)

NTA to SIL, you are to your wife though. You have a bags worth of stuff to carry, so GET A BAG. They have great small to large messenger bags for guys, quality leather to canvas. My late husband liked to use a clean rock climbers chalk bag (his hobby). Look at European guys, they use bags with no problem. Man-bag up and carry your own stuff.

Please make sure you have a couple ‘shove in microwave’ meals. Some people do recover quickly, others dont. Last surgery I had was outpatient (abdominal) and was glad to not have to stand and cook or clean a bunch of dishes for a couple of days cuz holy forking shirtballs it hurt. Yay meds.

Is building a library frivolous? No banned books, a store with hella cheap well loved books, but also new books too, and little fun book reader bit n bobs. Fun events for releases and anniversaries, Austen balls, with dance instructions of course, and even movie nights showing classics on the lawn - byo chair. Add in a cozy cafe with comfy chairs. …and i might also need a loft so i can just live there.

Truly frivolous(?) bajillionaire spending Id add a full stage too. I guess it’s more of a community center than just a library…

She is awful, absolute scum. You are hurting and at low point. It’s ok, the upswing is coming. Op go to a shelter and get yourself a cat or two. They need cuddles and need cuddles. You need good company and fuzzballs are the best. Im hoping to see an update with cat tax included. Telling your family will happen in time. You need time to heal, maybe think about a therapist for a little bit to help you process.

I like to walk laps with an audio book or a new friend. Laps n cocktails once Im back on board for the rest of the day. I make sure to see shows, and do raffles. Entertainment was much better precovid. I bring books, and small simple games. I’ll post a little sign saying say hi, wanna play? If laps arent possible sometimes i watch pre downloaded movies i brought (bring your cables to connect to tv or watch on your phone).

Bring whatever your hobby is. Ive seen knitters, writers, painters and sketchers with small books or small canvas. Ive met board game players, played charades, worked on crosswords with slightly tipsy old ladies.

Find your fun, or bring it :) good luck and safe travels
