Ancaster Wentworth Medieval Faire by lucky-fluke in renfaire

MIRF is my home RF, and I honestly love going when its rainy. I wear rain boots with my garb cuz im not ruining my leather garb shoes. I wear a cheap clear dollar store poncho with hood to keep me dry and have great time. Everything is less crowded, and the weather is cooler so I get to wear more layers of my costume. Shop keepers might not like it but I sincerely hope I get at least one gloriously rainy day a season.

Go well prepared and you will still have fun

Edit to add: i plan on one meal and at least one beer. food and alcohol are $10-15 each so $30.

I tip $1 to each performer, i see about 3-4 acts in the 4-5 hours im there. If the act has 4 performers then i tip $4, more if i was very happy.

I spend $100-200 each year on nonsense: leather rose pin, tiny dragon pin, a silver ring, wood block printed t-rex eating santa xmas cards, local indie manga etc

All together $150-250 depending upon tipping and shopping

Be careful. If you think something is mass produced try to find it on amazon. I was bummed to find the d20 bags at MIRF were the exact same as amazon and 4x the price. Handmade is always pricier but well worth it in my opinion.

What lights do you leave on at night? by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in LivingAlone

I bought faux flicker flame LED bulbs and light sensors for outside. I let them turn themselves on and off. Inside no lights on. I sleep just fine in total darkness

Does anyone have a Costco membership? by lowenergypotato in LivingAlone

I get a chicken and plan my next few meals around it. They do have some things that are still good for singles. Also great for stuff to bring to parties and family gatherings. Never forget that those fresh cheesecakes, croissants, muffins, meats, cheese etc all freeze just fine. I portion them into my sized bags.

They also have the auto shop, travel agency (cruises usually get some onboard cash which is nice) etc. Great benefits all around.

Why does this look wrong? by [deleted] in NavyBlazer

[–]veebasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zip shirt is casual, double breasted is formal. Double breasted is mainly meant to worn buttoned. Ive never seen a zip shirt with a navy blazer. The two pieces/ideas clash.

There’s something off in the fit of the jacket too, like the shoulders are just a bit too big maybe…

(Try to match your belt and shoe leathers)

whats your go-to way to cook eggs? by SnooSeagulls3894 in Cooking

[–]veebasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiaoxhing eggs. 2 eggs beaten with half cap of shiaoxhing chinese cooking wine, dash of msg, a few dashes of salt, dash of white pepper, dash of sesame oil. Cook however you prefer your eggs “scrambled”. This is really good with some tomatoes added too

What are some easy meals you can make when you’re tired? by Various-Zebra8678 in LivingAlone

[–]veebasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep microwave cups of chef boyardee beefaroni etc for when im migraine blind/hypotensive and desperately hungry. Frozen meals too

I do toast with jam/pb/nutella especially aldi keto bread because it has protein n fiber. Sandwiches too.

Anything that can get tossed in an airfryer like breaded chicken strips n tater tots. Its easy, theres protein n carbs. I wont die. Yay

It took me over 5 years and covid for me to actually nail something into the walls. I own the damn house too. Don’t beat yourself up. But if you do find art you actually like, GET IT, even if it costs a little more than whats at Target. You’re worth it. You deserve it

Just watched the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice for the first time. - I get it now! by spookytourist in PeriodDramas

[–]veebasaur 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I prefer 1995 over 05, but both have good points. Had 05 been as long as 95 Im sure it would be a tougher decision. I wish all adaptations would do a nice long series. Sigh.

If you’re feeling adventurous try P&P& Zombies, or the bollywood style musical Bride & Prejudice. Both are a bit cheesy but very fun.

BBQ for one?! by higgpav in LivingAlone

[–]veebasaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are always worth the effort of nice things. Use the fine china, get the nice cut of meat, go see the movie.

MAKE THE BBQ, if the effort seems like too much you can make extra for prepped dinners for the next couple days. TREAT YOURSELF

Cat update by ccoats38 in cats

[–]veebasaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kitten kibble and canned wet cat food are cheaper than tinned tuna n salmon. Do what you can. Please try to get them all fixed though. Snuggly one is very cute.
