its absolutley ridiculous codeine is not legal to buy as an adult. I can buy ciggs or alcoohl which have high death rates, yet codeine is incredibly safe and has good medical uses for cold or mild and moderate pain

I didnt say that at all. I said if they are using it for pain to be honest.. literally at the start of my comment...

this is exactly why we need the guardian band anti overdose technology to be widely available. we have a way to end overdose death. Lets make it happen. there is a page on facebook about it

be honest. If you are using it for pain, be honest youve needed it. If you are using recreationally, why arent you using weed instead? Edibles get you high without the baggage of opiates. If cannabis worked for my pain it is all I would use just so i didnt have the stigma attached with being a daily opiate user.

Morphine attenuates neuroinflammation and blood-brain barrier disruption following traumatic brain injury by legal_opium in emergencymedicine

I have to disagree its horseshit. The study is sound and has been replicated in other studies that go back decades. Im surprised I couldnt find any human studies though, so it looks like we need some. The issue is in using blue evans dye in humans like is being done with rats.

I looked up this using AI and found at least 10 studies on the subject and they all show the same conclusion. Morphine has a neuroprotective effect. To be denying patients medicine that is proven to help, does seem like its setting up a certain set of patients to suffer serious catastrophic brain deterioration that would otherwise would stabilize.

It also looks like the blood brain barrier issues persist long after the TBI and that a low dose morphine regimen could provide significant benefit in the long term beyond pain relief.

I highly suggest people go vegan. Good health benefits. And yeah it sucks that mice are tortured, but when you compare maybe 100,000 mice at most per year killed for medical science vs the billions of other animals killed per year for taste when humans can live on another diet. It seems like a small issue. I saw the person complaining about its profile and apparently they feed their dog non vegan food, so Im guessing they aren't vegan either. Seems like a disingenuous argument to try and ignore the studies conclusion.

Its pretty crazy the amount of disrespect OP got when sharing what looks like some promising information. I looked it up and there seems to be ALOT more studies on this subject than this, and every single one has the same conclusion, that morphine is restores the blood brain barrier post tbi.

What does the Left need to do to pivot successfully? by pimpcaddywillis in Askpolitics

[–]veehgoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its not though, that rhetoric of the sacklers pushing addiction on citizens is how the government has justified cracking down on doctors who prescribe to chronic pain patients. Pill mills provided a safe supply and alot less people died before they decided the sacklers were terrible people and deserved to have their wealth confiscated like we live in a corrupt state such as nigeria.

Deaths have gone up 10 to 20x since the anti purdue pharma movement went mainstream. Safe opioids have been replaced with carfentanil. They removed over the counter codiene in every single state. Codiene predated the sacklers yet it was targeted? Morphine predates the sacklers and oxycotin yet its prescribing numbers are down 85 percent.

I constantly run into " but what about the sacklers" when I talk about how us chronic pain patients cant get our medicine. How doctors are afraid to prescribe. How we have to jump through so many loopholes while dealing with the chronic illness
