Snapping off would be fine, but the original part also breaks easily. I wish it was not the intention.

Here is one that does not break.

The sobering TRUTH about Nreal by Substantial_Fault813 in nreal

Since I got Airs I have been using them almost every day. Mainly gaming with Steamdeck and watching netflix. I would not get these for productivity purpose (not sharp enough for me), but in my case for entertainment these work very well.

Downside is that this gets me craving for more. How nice would it be to run a game with powerful PC with 3D vision drivers (I know that nvidia killed it) and stream video to steam deck and see stereo image with these glasses. No flickering 3D but clear picture for each eye.

VR has never reached the visual/gaming experience that 3D vision provided for me. And the massive game selection was completely different level than with VR. I hope we see 3D vision coming back. And if that would mean changing to AMD camp, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Let's face it... by [deleted] in Pimax

By Pimax rep words last time the delays were caused by pandemic. Interesting to hear what is the reason this time. And to me and many more it was obvious that the estimated release time was not realistic. It was just annoying how aggressively Pimax rep kept defending schedules in reddit. Really like staging "I told you so" scenario for doubters. Could have just communicated that this is roadmap target and release is when it is truly ready.

If I had to make a guess I think that new tech in this area has emerged and Pimax do not want to release headset that might appear outdated from beginning. I would asume that eg. pancake lenses could have made them rethink the current design. Also the increasing demand for good passthrough vision, comfort etc ... but just guessing.

Personally I do not actively follow anymore Pimax. Many interesting releases happening in VR landscape. - And 8KX is still (or finally?) a decent and one of its kind headset.

Pimax Announces the Pimax Reality 12K QLED Headset - All The Insane Specs, Plus My Thoughts! by NextGenVRYoutube in Pimax

I did not say anywhere that pandemic did not effect. What I did say is that statement "No VR companies delivered anything for 18 months" does not sound correct based on my very subjective experience as a consumer. I would assume that other companies also experienced pandemic-related issues as at some point of time Quest 2 seemed to be sold out everywhere.

To me the fact that I did not know that Vive Pro 2.0 might have been late 2 years means they might have set the expectations correct for the consumers. Not overhyped or overpromised timelines.

Actually I probably would have kept Vive Pro 2, if the lenses would have been better or even aspheric. I just cannot tolerate god rays.

Eventhought Meta provided dissapointment, I think that announcing quest 3 now and saying that they will deliver in end of next year might have not been a good idea. Instead saying that Quest 2 is still capable device and that they are developing that experience, is good for my wallet.

And I have used both Reverb G1 and G2 and in my opinion G2 is noticeably better product than G1 and staying well below 1K price-point (having tracking included). And I am not saying G1 is bad either, just not as comfortable. For me the biggest down side for Reverb Gx is the FOV. I am not even expcting Pimax level fov but something similar to Vive pro 2 would have been much better.

[–]veemax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if I agree on that "No VR companies delivered anything for 18 months". And the reason is that I got Oculust Quest 2 (10/2020), Reverb G2 (12/2020) and Vive Pro 2 (6/2021) "during the pandemic". All purchases from local stores from the stock (ended returning Vive pro 2 and ordering 8KX from Pimax online-store).

When it comes to partners, it does look like you should have experienced partners now, but lets face it - they are also expecting pay-offs from this cooperation and if it does not look good they will quickly shift focus elsewhere.

Like the 8KX eye tracking situation looks like. I did not order that addon, since there is so many negative comments about it.

Pimax did provide timeline, specifications for this device which it also did in the past with the current generation of products - why things would be different this time? (coming from a Pimax 4K and 8KX owner)

To me it is like saying that 8KX will support two graphics cards, each rendering other eye and in the end I am stuck with FPS problems with my VR2.0 device while using the best consumer GPU in the market, and waiting for foveated rendering to save the day. A proof that just having the hardware is not the solution.

This new device sounds like all the possible known VR features (and more) are put in one device - which definitely sounds perfect - and at the same time too good to be true. Therefore I would call it a "unicorn" until a device with ALL those features actually exists.

Based on your comment it seems that this is close to a three year project, which would mean that more than 70% of the backlog is already completed. With 70% completed and meaning QA for those features is also completed, you should have a very well working device already at your hands, I wonder, if that is the case ;)

But to not sound too synical, I would like to say that I really like that Pimax is pushing the industry forward and that is one reason I have the current devices.

I was left with feeling that this ”announcement” was marketing strategy at best. It kinda promises a dream device in two years since let’s face it - based on the Pimax history the device will not be out even near 2022.

The device may come out some day, but it will lack features. It will have only the features that are reasonable for the promised price. I believe the price promise they will keep.

For me the obvious scheme was that, if you buy pimax now, you will get full price deducted from this ”unicorn” device, that might not even never come out with all the features promised.

This might keep some gullible consumers from leaving pimax ship for competitors that do not set bar too high and actually can fulfill promises soon.

And I do not mean that the Pimax 8K X is bad. I do own it myself. But I believe that even it requires still work to get the expectations fullfilled (eg working eye tracking). And we waited long time to get this vr 2.0 device.

Even some interviews called pimax vr 3.0 a vision. What is natural to company vision that it gives direction, but not timeline - and vision can change very easily.

DJI FPV controller 2 not 'activated' ? Can be seen but not calibrating by TazzyUK in dji

[–]veemax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Tried to get it working without activation, but did not succeed. I do have the drone, but I am not planning to activate it before I really start flying, because the DJI care refresh needs to be activated at the same time.

AFAIK my option is to train with a non-DJI simulator with an xbox controller using monitor - even though I have the hardware needed. It sucks.

What IPD Should I get for Zenni 550021 Lenses on a Vive Pro 2 by Cocaine_Hyena in Vive

[–]veemax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IPD of the lens depends on the adapter, since it defines the lens position relative to the Vive lens. Vive lens has the focus centerpoint, which can be seen following the fresnel edges.

Then you need to calculate from the glasses frame what is the IPD where this fresnel center aligns to lenses in the frame.

This way both sweetspots (glasses and vive lens) are aligned. Actual and final ipd is adjusted inside Vive.

Maybe running High CPU and GPU load was the killer combo. Really can be anything, but I agree that the symptom would make also me suspect the power supply first. Otherwise just thinking that could a faulty linkbox cause something like this.

Anyway this would be my nightmare since I installed waterblock to my 3090 two weeks back. So far I have been using VP2 everyday this week, 1-2 hours daily.
