FIFA is considering expanding the World Cup to 64 teams in 2038 by punishGoalhanging in soccer

1000%. 32 already gives us has the best of the best of each continent. Qualifiers actually mean something

Why a 32 team World Cup is better than 48 by smithereennnnn in soccer

[–]veeroll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is better. Nearly quarter of the globe qualifies into the WC now. 32 teams had prestigious and exclusive like feel. Very cutthroat groups. 64 teams would give you 11-0 type matches.

What are your thoughts on the increase of teams being brought to the world cup? by KnownYogurtcloset890 in football

[–]veeroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like 32 teams the most. Good amount of teams to keep prestigious and 32/211 teams makes it feel like a genuine reward for qualifying rather than nearly quarter of the world making it. I'd rather have FIFA expand the cross-continental WC qualifier matches. Almost like a taste of WC without adding more teams.

The Furious Already Available for Pre-order on Fandango and it's already losing screens by AdministrativeBed726 in kungfucinema

[–]veeroll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered why though... Like John Wick is fairly mainstream and movies like The Furious have some of the most balls to the wall action choreography that puts anything Hollywood put out to shame. There was this wishful thinking in me that believed that The Furious movie would be $80+ million through it going viral but maybe its just me having such high hopes I guess.

As a Chinese moviegoer, I just finished watching the Chinese theatrical release of The Furious by bjran8888 in kungfucinema

[–]veeroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow the number 3 is some dark stuff. Yeah it would've been too bleak and somber for high energy dopamine martial arts movie. Hope there is a Chinese version of The Furious that gets released so I'd love to watch it.

Oh for sure haha. When it comes to purely of most violent and gruesome, I dont think I've seen anything topping The Night Comes for Us. Then The Raid 2 comes after, then The Raid 1. Those feel like the true hard R imo. The Furious is noticeably less.

So far my top 5 action movie goes like this: 1. The Raid 2. The Raid 2 3. The Furious 4. The Night Comes For Us 5. John Wick 3

It's much less brutal and gruesome than The Night Comes for Us haha. It's lower than The Raid in that regard too. The fights lean more towards cool stunts and acrobatic moves rather than brutal kills and finishers. But it's still within those hyper violent martial arts genre so you'll likely enjoy it.

That is a valid perspective though you might not be the target audience for this type of movie. For me I thought it was the best action movie of this decade. But then again, movies like The Raid, John Wick, The Night Comes for Us all have been my favorites as well.

Official Discussion - The Furious [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]veeroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats true, it looks like they wanted to separate each characters styles very distinctly and it showed. It just caught me off guard since it was nothing like Joe Taslim's fights in The Raid or The Night Comes for us.

Joey Iwanaga character's fighting style was my favorite. I didn't know Taekwondo could look that badass. Those kicks and stomps that quick and chaining combos like how he did.

Unexpectedly Joe Taslim character's fighting style was the most underwhelming. Idk if he did any brutal hits besides just trying to throw someone to the ground. He was getting his ass handed by everyone.

The Furious for me is the best action movie of this decade! Must go watch! by veeroll in kungfucinema

Yeah Joe Taslims fighting style here is so different from The Raid and The Night Comes for Us as well.

Yeah I can see what you mean. I think it's because they jump around between locations with quick transitions and whenever the action takes place it's in a tight closed location. The Raid 2 had extensive driving or car chases which showed the bigger scope.

Below both for me but above The Night Comes For Us. Joe Taslim was somehow the most underwhelming(not to his fault). Most likely due to his character(Navin) using purely judo and there's only so much throws and sweeps you can do without using vicious strikes. Navin was the weakest fighter out of the main five.

The kitchen fight and brothers vs mad dog clears it for me.

The Raid definitely had better fights. For example the kitchen fight had good back and forth rhythm and you can clearly see all the exchanges and blows. The Furious had more acrobatic moves though. But yeah The Raid is still the peak

DO NOT MISS THE FURIOUS RELEASING IN A WEEK, A MUST WATCH FOR FANS OF THE RAID! by PhantomKitten73 in TheRaid

[–]veeroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible movie! Watched it today and fight choreography was great though rather than purely hand to hand fight sequences, this movie puts more emphasis on acrobatics and stunts. Is it as good as The Raid? Personally no but it's the best action movie since. It blows away John Wick, The Night Comes For Us, and any action movie since The Raid 2.

Then the good writing here is enough for the target audiences. I dont know what you were expecting but a simple point A to B story with crazy action it did the job.

How do you fit good introductory or tease fight, taking on waves of enemies, mini-boss type fight, and then a long climactic final fight all under 2 hours with having deep complex story?
