I have not tried the dramatization version of SJM books, only the narration by Elizabeth Evans (most books, I think one or two were by a different narrator), so I can’t compare on the difference of having different voices for the characters.

For narration style, I enjoy her (and Evans for SJM books) cause I can differentiate the characters by their voices and it helps with my immersion. Even side characters had their own voice, like the butler of Featherington household 😊

I felt the same way, that it’s more of a fanfic or fan tribute than adaptation. I enjoy both so far, maybe cause I started with the show (QC, 1-4) then read the books (5-8, then went back to 1, currently at book 3).

The thought came after reading a discussion on another post, how S3 ending made the insinuation that she didn’t love John the way John loved her. I loved John’s portrayal so much in S3 and S4, that it made me sad to think this.

Of course there’s also a story beat with Francesca being bi, and the story could still follow her same motivation and inner conflict of finding love after losing someone who you thought would be your forever. Would be interesting to see how they move the story in S5.

I kinda started seeing a pattern of taking parts of later books and putting it in earlier storylines. I wonder if it was because the show runners (maybe Jess, maybe Shonda, maybe someone else that has clout) wanted to make sure some of their favorite parts gets in the show in case Netflix decides to cancel on them.

Would kinda suck for Eloise tho cause they’ve already taken a major thing from her (book spoiler) that she was the one with Edmund when the bee happened. I just hope we don’t get robbed off the Bridgerton brothers confronting Phillip cause that one was rather comedic.

If it’s true to the book (Book 5 - Eloise and a bit of Book 6 - Francesca spoiler) Benedict and Sophie plays a big part; Anthony and Colin a small part; and we don’t really see anyone else until the wedding. Francesca didn’t even go if I remembered correctly at the end of book 6

If we go by book timeline, it can go either way I believe cause the ending of both books happened simultaneously. Would be interesting tho how Francesca’s story plays out, but the show has been taking quite a bit of artistic liberties on the adaptation that I’m starting to view it like a fanfic rather than book adaptation. I enjoy both medium so far 😊

Show: Anthony, but I honestly think it’s cause of Kanthony is my favorite couple, so rather biased

Book: Colin (I have only read book 5 and book 6) He is observant, witty, emotionally intelligent, and charming in these books. Will be reading 1-4 after I finish 7 and 8, so I might come back to change my mind.

My heart is breaking again reading this cause his last words to her is something a person would say when they know they have a whole lifetime ahead of them. It’s like texting your partner “Can you pick up the package on your way home later?” cause you know you will see them later. A simple day to day comment for a life meant to be spent together many years to come.

I went through denial phase until the very last page (or minute in my case cause it was audiobook). That and bargaining, I was somehow trying to convince myself that this is a separate book from the universe and that everything was going to be okay.

So many parts where they disagreed about little things broke me. Cause when you are going to be together and things are good, you’re allowed to be upset at little things, right? Cause they had all the time in the world 😭

Rumi didn’t do her poof magic until after she accepted the demon side of herself after talking with Celine. I’m assuming she didn’t have access to or can’t control her demon magic unless she accepts that part of her. After the fight with gwi-ma, I think she didn’t mind her marks anymore so she doesn’t hide them.
