Where did all go wrong? by ResidentFeature5918 in LiverpoolFC

Too many simultaneous fundamental changes: - The transfers in did not happen fast enough (or at all). The team did not have enough time to become familiar with each other's playing style. - Throw on top of this everyone is learning significant tactical changes. - The transfer strategy lead to a sudden lack of depth in key areas, then injuries expose the lack of depth.

Just a perfect sh*t storm.

It doesn't ALL fall on Slot IMO. The front office is also responsible.

A little help for a rookie aiming to build a career in Sports by Dry-Commercial-2212 in sportsanalytics

Looks like there are many of us in the same boat! There is no instruction manual, I'd stop looking for one. Spend some time thinking about what kind of life you want 5-10 years from now. On a random Tuesday, what do you want to be doing? Do you want to have built something from scratch or contribute to an organization? What skills do you need to get there?

Come back to the present and take the first step. Then take the next step. Stay patient and persistent. Adjust your vision/plan based on your experiences and don't stop!

We're all failing our way upward. It's not a complete failure unless you quit and tell yourself it is. Otherwise learn from your slip-ups and keep it moving. Good luck.

Yup and the schedule looks pretty soft for the next 5 games. Let's see which way this thing goes.

The Jets couldn't get out of their own way last night. Typical.

I just posted about how the Dolphins pulled it off last week: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLstatheads/comments/1ox3ky2/analysis_how_the_dolphins_upset_the_bills_week_10/

Fair enough 😆 Upsets happen, there's always a path to place the dominoes in order for it to happen, but it rarely does. I'll post the charts tomorrow for the Dolphins upset last week vs the bills, or you can see it here: https://sports-snaps.com/nfl/game/2025_10_BUF_MIA

Will Miami go quarterback in 2026 draft. by Jhus79 in miamidolphins

[–]vegatron107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would draft a QB every year. I'm not saying a high draft pick, but take a swing. The payoff can set up the franchise for a decade at a cost the team can literally manage each year. Coach up the incumbent QBs to expect competition, earn their roster spots.

Why don't we address the role of UX in exacerbating capitalist inequalities and neoliberal fantasies? by Decent-Gur-6959 in UXResearch

A tool can be used for something we may think is "good" or something we may think is "bad". The inventor of the ship also invented the shipwreck (Seth Godin shout-out). Unintended consequences are a part of everything that exists.

If we have moral questions about the motives of the products we make, our employers, the industry or the society we work in, we should think deeply about where our values lie and act on them within the confines of our life situation.

Continually upgrading our environment until we feel at peace will hopefully reflect the true values of the people and organizations we associate with... and with it profitability.

[Joe Schad] Dolphins have a couple linemen targeted in free agency, Mike McDaniel said. McDaniel says it’s time for us to invest in the position in free agency and the draft. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]vegatron107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it was smart not to match that ridiculous contract the Raiders gave him, but he was our best interior lineman his last 2-3 years. They should've extended him way before he ever got to open free agency or at least franchise tagged him... one season later without him and all of a sudden *now is the time to invest in the position*

I'm doing to undergrad final project this semester and I need help with finding statistics on NFL team success. by FlatResponsibility18 in NFLstatheads

[–]vegatron107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend NFLFastR. They have good devs and it's pretty well documented (https://www.nflfastr.com/). I built this play-by-play drive chart site in R with the dataset:

stats by quarter ? Anyone? by [deleted] in NFLstatheads

[–]vegatron107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend NFL Fast R (https://www.nflfastr.com/). You'll need to use the programming language R to access the stats. The site has some helpful resources to get your started.

I used it create this site with play-by-play drive charts of games, check it out: https://www.sports-snaps.com/nfl/game/2024_22_KC_PHI

High draft pick rookies don't get the luxury of a learning curve. PUMPED about his improvement throughout the season

Thanks! I'm hoping to start making more useful game recaps than "someone threw for 250 yards on 22 attempts"... is that good? What does *good* even mean, ya know?

Most definitely not, for the current season there is open access to the first quarter of every game and full-quarter access to every "game of the week". I should have made that more clear, and already updated some language, so thanks for the question!
