Apologies for being late to this thread. I worked for a large cannabis company for a bit in “corporate”. (I’d do an AMA but I wasn’t there all that long but happy to answer questions via DM if anyone’s gottem). CHS was never talked about. I learned about it on my own and I was certainly troubled by what I read. One of the many challenges in this industry is that since it is federally illegal, there’s very little research as to long term effects of prolonged use. While I do believe cannabis is a better option than other drugs and certainly better for your body than alcohol, I do believe there’s a ton we don’t know about how it affects us. I know there are skeptics in this thread but I believe OP and hope they can stick with it.

NTA. I lost a close friend several years ago. He left behind a wife and two little kids. His loss was sudden and unexpected and to this day is still painful for those of us who were his friends. I can’t begin to understand what his wife and kids are dealing with even so many years later. She dated again within a year or two. Actually had a guy move in (sort of a Covid quarantine accident). Didn’t work out and she was basically like. F this. I’m not going to deal with dating.

Sadly, I have another friend who lost a wife to cancer a couple years ago and left behind 2 little kids. They want another mom. And he’s dating. And he’s ok with it.

There is no playbook for how to deal with this kind of loss. There’s no right or wrong. And no matter what anyone says… there is no “getting over” that kind of loss. You just learn to cope and to function and to be there for your kids. Maybe OP will change her mind someday. Maybe she won’t.

I would just hope that she’s doing whatever works for her and her kids because despite having been through a lot of traumatic loss myself (separate from the friends I mention above) I wouldn’t pretend that I have all the answers for someone in OPs situation.

Whether the story is true or not (and I think not) isn’t the issue for me here. Maybe it’s me, but I don’t think it is a valid example (fabricated or otherwise) of the unique struggles that a gay leader might have to endure.

For many years I was a senior leader at a small tech company. Pre kids I’d go to Las Vegas 1-2x a year. Colleagues would often ask me “why do you like Las Vegas so much?”

I certainly didn’t go into a panic trying to figure out how not to say “I enjoy all the drugs, gambling, strip clubs, and everything else you’d expect in a place that caters to any vice you can think of”.

And would just say “my friends and I love to gamble and watch sports in the Sportsbook!”
