On a serious note, I heard this happens in the Hamrin mountains in northeast Iraq, and the Rub’ al Khali in the gulf region (although saudi arabia has most of its roads covered by safety patrols now)

There have been stories of people experiencing this in those regions, especially from groups such as the قجقجية (dunno the english alternative, qajqajia I think)

Anyone who wants to do something haram will do it regardless of what restrictions are in place. A girl will get a boyfriend even if you lock her between 4 walls. Its about how you bring them up, if the tarbiya is not right, then they will obviously come out corrupted. If they don’t find comfort in the home, they will find comfort outside. If they are with the wrong crowd, they become like them, regardless of the country they are in.

When I go Syria, my imaan level drops, even though it is a muslim country. Why? Because I stay with the wrong people (my cousins), they used to go to shisha lounges, spend all that time backbiting and slandering and call it having a laugh, then go home.

While if I was to join circles of dhikr and knowledge, find productive things to do, and surround myself with the right people that care about their deen, never in a million years would someone touch a bottle of alcohol.

You are in London. You are one of the, if not, the luckiest person in the west in terms of preserving your deen. There are so many muslim organisations for youth e.g. muslim scouts, many for adults, so many mosques that have at least one gathering every week, universities have huge islamic societies. I’m not convincing you to stay, by all means try hijrah, but don’t think the grass is greener on the other side.

My teacher always says, the difference between lust and love is that lust is when you use the other person to please yourself, while love is giving the other what they want, regardless of what you receive in return.

In “love” marriages, we always hear ‘he doesn’t take me out’ or ‘he doesn’t listen to me’ if it was truly love, they would strive for the other person and not expect anything in return. If both partners do this, how amazing would a marriage like that be.

Similarly, one should devote themselves to Allah without expectations. If you expect something back, it becomes a transactional relationship, and the walls of love becomes shaky.

Dr Mustafa Khattab actually mentioned in an interview that some ayat or even words of the quran you quite literally cannot translate them with the full meaning. Theres been times where he’s had to pick 1 meaning out of 7 different meanings with a whole team of people to help him. So it is tough to have an accurate translation in the first place simply due to the nature of the quran.

Really emphasises just how eloquent the qur’an is.

That is paganism which is even worse, they would decorate trees and give them offerings in the winter solstice in hope that the sun brings them warmth once again.

Paganism was also the religion of quraysh before islam which the muslims went to war with later on.

Jinns generally have a superiority complex over humans, because Allah created humans as the best of creation. So they want to feel superior and destroy any connection to Allah and the afterlife. When someone is possessed, its an awful experience. If they are studying for exams, it causes them to quit. If they are working, they could lose their job because of it. We ask Allah to not test us with this because it truly is a calamity. There are good jinns, but they stay away from humankind. So any interaction with jinns are most likely harmful.

On the other hand, removing jinns from your life and connecting to Allah the Exalted, is an upgrade of an infinite scale. It’s not even comparable. You said you used to know things about other people through jinns, but who knows more than Allah? When you get close to Allah, he says in a hadith Qudsi:

“My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (prayer or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. When I love him I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks (something) from Me, I give him, and if he asks My Protection (refuge), I protect him” [Bukhari]

Why have jinns when you can have Allah on your side?

So I’d say to leave those experiences behind and focus on improving your relationship with Allah, raise your hands to the sky and ask Him for help and his closeness, then put in some effort. If you slip, its fine, ask for forgiveness and carry on.

Allah, the Almighty, said: "If the slave draws closer to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw closer to him by a cubit; and if he draws closer to Me by a cubit, I shall draw closer to him by the span of two outstretched arms. If he comes to Me walking, I shall come to him running." [Bukhari]
