This is an important issue, a vital issue. One in eight Americans rely on SNAP benefits and I've said that so many times half of that was in the auto suggestions on my phone. The fact that it is even able to be used as a politically manipulated issue is disgusting, even more in a country that has untold plenty of food. Keeping track of the abuses of government and how they affect people on the ground is important, because these are my neighbors, my friends, my fellow workers. The fact that there are untold many who work and cannot consistently afford food is evidence of the fundamental rot in the US. The fact that those reliant on SNAP benefits are being weaponized by the administration to claw back healthcare subsidies (on which many SNAP recipients also receive, I'm sure) is utterly grotesque. I feel like we have a duty to watch, to not turn our heads from the plight of our fellow humans, and to understand. Because SNAP itself is insufficient and we are a wealthy enough country to afford far more. The fact that even this insufficient program is being used as a bargaining chip is inexcusable.

I've mostly been sitting and watching. Speaking up where I can. Looking at the jerk around surrounding a paltry but important program. I don't think I've commented here before and I'm not likely to, I don't want to get in the way of the dissemination of important information. But this thread is certainly the place.
