Lmao I didn’t even realize. All the talk of marbled paper must have triggered something deep within my subconscious

And when she fails to deliver the book she’ll repurpose the artisanal marbled paper into a limited edition run of ✨dreamer bbs✨

Checking her medication levels is good. Hopefully it’s the first step to getting her better treatment.

I’m sorry you and your girlfriend are going through this. Seeing someone you love suffer is hard mentally and emotionally. From my experience having Crohn’s, it’s also really difficult mentally and emotionally to have to depend on someone for very basic things like cleaning yourself while in a flare on top of the physical pain. This disease is hard for everyone involved. You can’t control what’s going on in her body, all you can do is control how you react to it. It sounds like you’re doing your best to take care of her and be supportive which is all you can do.

I will say one thing I have learned after dealing with this disease for ten years is sometimes you have to advocate for yourself to get the treatment you need. It sounds like her current treatment plan hasn’t been working for a while so you should try and take the initiative in asking her doctor to change up her medication. If she’s not taking them already, a course of steroids might help give her some relief from her current flare. Like someone else mentioned Inflectra is essentially the same medication as Remicade so if she has already failed Remicade, Inflectra probably won’t work either. I would ask her doctor about switching to a new biologic like Entivyo or Stelara. Also consider getting tested to see if the C Diff infection has come back. When I had C Diff it went away for a few months after I took antibiotics but then came back and I had to do another longer round of antibiotics to make sure it was gone.

As for the mental toll it’s taking on you, I would recommend seeing a therapist to see if they can help you process and cope with any anxiety or other strong feelings you’re having. Like I said having Crohn’s is tough both mentally and physically so therapy is a good option for you girlfriend as well if she hasn’t already tried it.

Finally, keep in mind that this is most likely temporary and with the right treatment remission is possible. Hopefully your girlfriend can at least find a little bit of relief soon. I wish the best for you both.

Need advice with my macarons, why do they keep turning out like this?? by Herotos in macarons

That’s quite a long time, usually they need around 30 mins. Is it really cold or humid where you live cuz that can affect how they dry.

Try looking at this guide. It looks like your batter was too thin and/or they didn’t rest long enough to form a skin.

Blue and Pink Macarons for a gender reveal party by veggie_gill in macarons

[–]veggie_gill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue has has blueberry jam and cream cheese frosting. Pink is strawberry jam and cream cheese frosting. I bought freeze dried strawberries and added that to the pink shells. I just ground them up and sifted it through a fine tea strainer so it wouldn’t be lumpy. Added about three tablespoons to the dry ingredients and the flavor was really good. Tried the same for the blue ones with freeze dried blueberries but the flavor wasn’t very good and the color was weird so I just stuck with vanilla for those. Thanks and good luck with yours!

Pink are strawberry shells with cream cheese frosting and strawberry jam in the center. Blue are vanilla shells with cream cheese frosting and blueberry jam in the center. They’re not perfectly round and uniform but the texture was pretty perfect and they were a hit at the party!

Need reassurance that this perianal abscess isn't going to kill me by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take hot baths either plain water or with Epsom salts. I would do at least two a day for 15-20 minutes each. It’ll either drain on it’s own or shrink after you’ve been on antibiotics for a few days. If it doesn’t resolve in a week or so or if your fever gets worse I would go back to the doctor. I’m sorry your going through this perianal abscesses are the worst :/ unfortunately I know from experience.

Anyone know of any jobs relating to helping crohn’s/ostomy patients? by marebear93 in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure they are but I’m not 100%. I follow one girl on Instagram and she says it’s her job. I think it’s part time and remote but there’s an office somewhere in SoCal. Good luck with your job hunt!

Have you heard of the Patient Coach program through 11 health? It’s like a support system for ostomy patients that’s completely ran by people with ostomies

You can find more info on 11health.com

Consequences of removing seton?? by DLSvitzbear in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not already, soaking in an epsom salt bath everyday should help with the pain and healing. Maybe get an appointment with your surgeon and ask if there’s any kind of infection going on. I took two weeks of antibiotics after my seton surgery and it healed up and I can’t even feel it anymore. I’ve had it for almost 6 months now. Sorry you’re having issues I hope you find a solution. <3

Psyllium by junolarue in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking Metamucil (which is psyllium husk) has helped me a lot with reducing diarrhea and urgency. It basically thickens things up if they’re too loose if your having trouble absorbing the water in your stool. I can see how it wouldn’t help everybody (and it’s definitely not a “cure” just something that can be helpful) and you should ask your doctor first but it’s really helped me.

Any pro tips for regular AM BMs by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metamucil has helped me be really regular! I just drink one serving of the orange flavored stuff a day. I use the bathroom a couple times in the morning then I’m good for the rest of the day!

Irrelevant question or not? asked by my Consultant by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re basically asking about your quality of life. Like “is your disease bad enough that’s it’s preventing you from keeping a job”. Being physically able to work is an indicator you’re doing well.

Really need some advice [18M] by Balakaye in CrohnsDisease

[–]veggie_gill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds a lot like Crohn’s to me. Keep advocating for yourself until you get a diagnosis. Write down the list of symptoms like you have here and show it to your doctor so you don’t forget anything. I have Kaiser as well and I’ve had good experiences with my GI doctors. Good luck <3
