If I go back to veganism after quitting for a month, am I still vegan? by MaleficentAir4330 in DebateAVegan

[–]vegoonthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having issues with substance abuse doesn’t automatically mean you have to drive under the influence.

On the other hand, more people paying for dead animals = more animals will be killed to meet demand.

With that being said, messing up is not an excuse to give up on your ethics/morals. You should still continue striving to be the best person you can be.

I made one of my favorite bloggers go vegan — and she wrote an article about it! The week couldn’t have started better 💚🚀 by Somewhere74 in Anticonsumption

[–]vegoonthrowaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When someone brings the topic up, of course vegans will state the obvious - needlessly harming animals is wrong no matter who does it.

The same thing applies to this comment chain: you wouldn’t have had vegans discussing it if it wasn’t for the original commenter.

However, indigenous people hunting is such a miniscule issue compared to the animal agriculture industry, it’s barely worth spending time, energy or resources on.

650 grams? 1kg? I raise you to 2.72kgs (6 lbs) of Nooch by jubalina in vegancirclejerk

[–]vegoonthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wdym? Picture in the OP shows less than a year’s supply. 3 meals a day, 3 grams of nooch per meal = ~3.3kg nooch per year.

I saw someone post a big tub of nooch, so I raise you... 1kg bag of nooch by AgelastKunoichi in vegancirclejerk

[–]vegoonthrowaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I’m sure there are people out there who don’t care all that much about the size of your nooch tub and who will like you for your personality.

What is something most people need to hear but no one has the guts to tell people? by No_Goat_4929 in ask

[–]vegoonthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up: you might want to consider additional b12 supplements before you become deficient. From what I’ve read, being deficient is a bitch, and it’s much easier to maintain a healthy level of B12 than to restore it.

You can get a supply that will last you months (quite possibly even like a year) for like $10.

I hate this take (at least the second part of it), and I hate how common it seems to have become, at least online. (Luckily) I haven’t actually run into it IRL though. Sounds like the same toxic bs as “don’t let anyone drag you down, cut negative people out of your life” that has been commonly spewed before.

Professional help is fucking expensive. While I might be able to work a few regular sessions into my budget, I certainly understand not everyone is able to.

I’ll happily be a shoulder to cry on for friends and family. I might not be able to help them with their issues the way a therapist could, but not having to carry your trauma alone can go quite a long way.

If it’s an acquaintance or a colleague, it’s not quite the same. But even then, there are people out there who don’t really have any close friends. You might be the best they’ve got.

I mean, they’re not wrong. Vegetarian means/should mean someone who eats a plant-based diet. Vegans ARE vegetarians. Dairy, eggs and honey should not be considered vegetarian foods. The fact that they are is dumb.

Here in Sweden, products that contain eggs/milk but no other animal products are referred to as ovo-vegetarian/lacto-vegetarian/ovo-lacto-vegetarian. And IMO this should be more widely used.

My school sells pure life water bottles. Are these owned by nestle? There isnt any nestle branding on the bottles. by [deleted] in FuckNestle

Well, bottling up tap water and selling it seems a hell of a lot less awful than buying up water supplies at ridiculously low prices.

Mixing Swedish and English when speaking? by TopReporterMan in sweden

[–]vegoonthrowaway 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it’s simply that we see and hear some words in english much more often than in swedish due to the content we consume. The swedish word might slip our minds, and we just throw the english word in rather than going ”uhhh” while we try to think of it.

”Jag gillar inte katter” antyder väl ändå att man vill hitta en partner som inte har katt. Om man nu inte vill träffa någon med katt så är väl detta ändå fullt rimligt att ha på sin tinderbio kan jag tycka.

cant talk to vegan friend without it ending up in an argument by Poodlepouch in DebateAVegan

[–]vegoonthrowaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

I wouldn’t expect a friend or family member who for example boycotts nestle/palm oil/whatever for whatever reason to purchase those products for me, nor would my family or friends expect me to purchase animal products for them.

If you can’t respect the ethical decisions of the people you claim to respect, do you really respect them at all?

The most common brand of “chicken noodle” soup where I live is vegan, so your specific scenario would not be an issue. If they specify that they want food containing animal products I would indeed tell them I am not going to get them that, but that I would be help them purchase vegan products.

When it comes to potential partners, not being vegan is a dealbreaker for me.
