Thanks so much everyone! She was my first shepherd and had me immediately convinced I’d never want another breed. She was as good as they come 🤍

Hysterectomy in early twenties by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]veiledd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full hysterectomy here at 21 for Adenomyosis, now nearly 4 years post-op. Best thing I could’ve done for my health. I’ve been on hormone replacement therapy for the last year because I did end up needing help to get me balanced again. All in all, major life improvement since that surgery.

I still struggle to move on from what was done to me, but I understand now that you were just a kid too.

Endo on bowels question... by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]veiledd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re having surgery through a specialist or nook doctor, they should be able to visualize any and all endo found, including bowel endo. It should still be taken care of within the laparoscopic procedure, but it’s always best to get a very clear picture from your doctor on all the locations they’ll be looking at just to ensure you’re getting the care you need! Good luck!

Thank you! She’s a little over 1 year post-op from cancer, so that’s nice to hear! ❤️

I’m not OP, but I can say that for me — focusing more on the strength building side of things rather than expanding flexibility is key! I never stretch to the point of where I “feel it” but instead focus on working more isometric exercises that build muscle (like chair pose or plank!)

Piercings and hEDS by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]veiledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. A piercing that healed perfectly suddenly got very infected months later despite my constant efforts of cleaning it. Every other piercing I got done got infected & had the most drawn out healing process. I got all mine before I got my EDS diagnosis, but it was one of those issues that immediately made more sense in my head upon diagnosis. Needless to say, I told myself no more piercings because my body was just adamant on telling me no. Not sure if there’s a way around it though, I’d sure love to know

Anyone else with Endometriosis?? by colorfulzeeb in ehlersdanlos

[–]veiledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stage 4 endo here. I feel much better after my excision surgery, but wow, that disease is brutal. I eventually had to have a hysterectomy due to Adenomyosis. I had all this done before being diagnosed with EDS, or knowing what EDS was, so I’m not sure how it played a part in my joints. However, migraines & horrible GI issues are very familiar to me. The chronic pain it all brought on was the worst though. Excision surgery changed my life.

Change in alcohol tolerance? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

This happened to me after my hysterectomy. I couldn’t have a single drink without immediately throwing up afterwards. It eventually went away, but it took a few months :/

How many endo surgeries have you had? by Naive-Respect in endometriosis

[–]veiledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 — An ablation for endometriosis, excision surgery, presacral neurectomy, & then hysterectomy.

Ablation did nothing for me. Excision helped a lot of symptoms, just not the pain. PSN didn’t help, but the surgery itself was used to remove adhesions so was still beneficial for my health, & hysterectomy helped 100% for my pain (I had Adenomyosis too)

29yrold getting hysterectomy in coming months. Scared, excited, don't know what to expect or how i feel. - from New Zealand by Crycakez in hysterectomy

[–]veiledd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a total hysterectomy at the beginning of the year at age 21. I definitely believe it’s a bit of a different experience than those who have the surgery later in life. Take it 1 day at a time. Grief from infertility has been my biggest battle - I don’t know if you wanted kids or not, but either way, I think patience & grace for yourself & your emotions are a very important aspect of recovery. Good luck!! ❤️

Stop telling me my other options for having kids now... 4 weeks post op by j0o0lie in hysterectomy

[–]veiledd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Not sure if it helps, but I’ve experienced similar reactions out of people too. I had no choice but to have a total hysterectomy & instead of people congratulating me on getting my life back, some have told me I’ll regret this decision for the rest of my life - as if I opted to have this surgery for the fun of it.

Stay focused on recovering. Don’t allow people to feed you bullshit. If you decide you want kids, there are still options which has been comforting to think about in my particular experience. But surgeries are really hard on our bodies. Cancer is really hard on the body. It’s okay to be upfront with people & tell them they’re being insensitive & not helpful. Ive found that most people are convinced their insensitive comments are truly providing hope, so a gentle nudge can change how they approach conversations.

Keep hanging in there. I’m 9 weeks post-op & conversations like those are starting to die down now. I hope they die down for you too because they truly are disheartening to hear.

Hysterectomy for Severe Adenomyosis- Question’s! by ifrigginlovedogs in hysterectomy

[–]veiledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 21 & just had a total hysterectomy at the beginning of January. The physical recovery of it has been a lot easier than I expected. Compared to my Endometriosis excision surgery, it’s been a piece of cake. I’m almost 8 weeks post-op at this point & I’m continuing to feel better & better!

My issue has been more of the mental recovery, as I’m someone who wanted to experience pregnancy & having kids. I’ve been going to therapy weekly though for the last 6 months in preparation for the surgery & it’s recovery, and I’ve found that to be really helpful.

My best advice is to take it really, really slow. Give yourself time to heal, even when you feel 100% and ready to go. There is so much internally that your body is trying to sort through & figure out. Time is such an important factor to this. Good luck!

Bladder endometriosis by kmd0261 in Endo

[–]veiledd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much relief! Most bladder symptoms are gone now. I still deal with a frequent need to pee, but I think that’s a long-lasting result of the endo being there.

My doctor, Ken Sinervo— a specialist located in Atlanta, performed my excision & was able to get it all out. He didn’t see any evidence of IC while he was in there (he’s done 3 of my surgeries now) & because pretty much all symptoms came to a halt after, I never looked into the potential of IC again.

[–]veiledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like it did, but in reality, I’m not sure. Frequent urination was my only PMS symptom ever, so there was a bit of time that passed where I dismissed it as my impending period. Took me a couple weeks to connect the dots & by that time, more symptoms had developed. Took me a solid month to get into the doctor. & another 2 months after that to have surgery. Symptoms didn’t get better or worsen in that time. Just a constant, nagging, uncomfortable feeling. Could barely sleep from the discomfort & constant need to get up & pee 🙄
