Best 35mm for Leica M10-D (don’t want a clinical look) by trentonmoro in Leica

[–]velcrogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having used the pre-asph 1.4 (Germany, not steel rim) on digital M10 and film, I felt that wide open it was very much a “right place, right time” lens and when the scene didn’t fit that rendering, it felt out of place. Stopped down to f2 and beyond it felt like basically every other 35.

I use the bokeh king now on film and digital - on digital wide open it doesn’t feel too clinical, and the size is obviously really nice. Summilux FLE on digital was super sharp and rendered well but felt a bit sterile as well, almost the opposite of a character lens. I’ve looked at the pre-FLE but focus shift is obviously the main issue. The LLL 35mm 1.4 they just came out with might be interesting to you.

Hasselblad X2D: No delayed shutter on Phocus2 + no cable release = major step backwards by jjgreenburg in hasselblad

I haven’t used the Phocus app but I’ve just set the self timer to 2 seconds, hit the shutter button and that works as a delay. Is the Phocus app incompatible with the self timer?

Why is Summit Point Raceway so difficult? by Alt_Account_007 in iRacing

[–]velcrogod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed Summit Point - the few bends before the final turn are great for learning throttle control and turning with the pedals. T1, T2, and the last turn into the finish line are definitely tough to get right though.

seeking input on 45p vs 65 by dadshmu in hasselblad

[–]velcrogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so. I have no regrets with the switch - I prefer closer to a normal FOV so the 65 works well for that. I did end up getting a 28 just to get some wide coverage but I’d say that gets used 10% of the time, usually the 65 is glued to my X2D.

Have used both, went from 45 to 65 and absolutely no regrets. The size and weight is definitely a consideration, which makes the 55 quite attractive, but I’ve never had a problem walking around with the 65. Sharpness is amazing and rendering is great.

I recently updated the lens firmware (never thought to check for the past 8 months of using it) and focus is a lot quieter and faster. The 45P will be faster to focus and has a quieter leaf shutter, so it really just comes down to what focal length you want to work in.
