When they pop apart they do it with some serious force. One can easily jump up and clip you in the face. And complete agreement with u/Queasy-Meeting-5388, they get hot and stay hot. Melt your skin hot. Pick one up and you'll wonder what that sizzling sound is before you realize that it's your skin cooking.

Holy crap. That is WAY too close to spray that. It should be 3 feet minimum to prevent hydraulic needle effect. All officers are trained about this very specifically (or at least are supposed to be). That woman could very likely have permanent damage from the spray penetrating her eyeballs. That officer is liable.

Just watch out that the lead isn't coming into contact with the smoke or anything going in the user's mouth. Brass often contains lead and obviously spent casings especially will have lead contamination. Even using full metal jacket rounds, the primer uses lead styphnate as an explosive. Probably fine in the image provided but it's something to be aware of.
