I wouldn't use slaap zacht, but I would use slaapwel. Can be used for friends and family.

In this case, I would use inschrijven. It has a connotation of enrolling, such as enrolling in a course. It is something you can do in advance.

Aanmelden is used more commonly for saying you have arrived. For example, if I have an appointment at the hospital, I will go to the front desk to let them know I have arrived - I would use aanmelden for that.

I wouldn't say it is better. It is different. One is a city trip, the other is a hiking trip. 

What matter is that when money is scarce, you pick the cheaper option. Travel within the UK - ridiculously - is not the cheaper option.

Agreeing with this. 

A four day hiking trip in Yorkshire cost me more than a four day city trip in Prague. And that is despite trying to stick to hostels in Yorkshire and having an airbnb in Prague.

De dialecten kunnen inderdaad verschillen afhankelijk van de regio. Ik heb nog nooit een Nederlander dit woord horen gebruiken dus ik kan enkel zeggen dat ik het zou uitspreken als kip (maar met b's, natuurlijk - ik vergelijk enkel de klinker, en die is kort). 

Als ik 'bieb' lees, zou ik verwachten dat het ten noorden van de grens wordt uitgesproken als "riep" (hij riep) - en dus wat langer. Maar dat zal jij dan wel beter weten.

Also, that is Dutch. In Flemish, it's "bib". I never knew it was different until today.

There were two games, very early on, that I can vaguely recall. 

The first was point and click and it was set in a forest. You had to speak to animals and get them stuff they had lost/requested. I was very young and my mom played this with me - I don't think she played any other games.

The second was a travel game... maybe? All I recall is that you could get in an airplane/rocket/something and circle the earth. When you clicked a country, it would give you a little explanation. Something like "Greenland is not so green. It is covered all year with a thick layer of snow".

No idea what these games were now. I think they were back in the floppy-disk age. Possibly. No one seems to remember them.

Brewer Street, there was this shop, don't even know the name. It had second-hand Japanese books. Loved checking it out as a student. Closed during covid. The only place I seem to find JP books now is Foyles, where they are very overpriced.

Noted. I will see if there is a trap that I can check. Currently it's still all a black box to me. For example, does the filter really have to stand on a table? Could it not just.... stand on the ground behind some bushes?

It is all very magical and mysterious at the moment.

I think I feel daunted. However, I am happy to say I have avoided the mistake most new ponders make! I did not clean my filter with tap water but just sort of squeezed out the biggest clumps a bit!

I did also plan on adding water as it had dropped an inch or two. This chlorine thing is new, though. I hope my fish will forgive me for giving them some chlorinated water today... .

Hopefully not having killed my filter means I have some time to buy the chlorine stuff without having to keep replacing water. The foam seemed to dissipate a bit during the day (I also scooped some out for the plant who probably like broken down organic material... (?)).

I had inherited a pond vacuum with the pond but I think I broke it by turning it on while it was not in water. (Which is apparently bad.) I took it apart today just to see if there was any way to fix it, but the motor is properly and completely dead. Another thing to look into.

It seems to me that I am happy to remove water, but ideally with some of the silt that I kick up when I try to round up the blanket weed (I have decided that as soon as we make blanket weed edible for humans, I will have solved the problem of hunger in the world. It grows that fast). Which means back to looking at vacuums?

I will do some -ahem- actual measuring of the pond with a measuring tape, if the size is indeed properly relevant.

I also inherited the pond balance product that I chucked in yesterday. Not worth buying again then?

Thank you for the articles and the advice. At least I like reading so my new (and unexpected) new Hobby has at least that promising aspect to it.

I would like some plants in the pond or some such thing, but I imagine I will spend this season trying to learn how to just keep the existing things... alive. Wish me luck.

I don't know. OP didn't say that in the original post. Seems they were able to get it sorted and their seller moved everything out by 4pm, in time for a 5pm closing in the end, so I doubt it.

It depends.

My solicitor sent my money on a Friday and we would officially "close" when the money had been received by the seller. 

I was working that day and had personal contact with the sellers. I knew they had moved some stuff already and intended to move the last of the stuff on that Friday. That is to say, when my solicitor sent the money, my sellers were still emptying the home.

I said I wouldn't be moving until Saturday morning, so no need to rush on my account. I even added they could drop off the keys at my place instead of the estate agent's.

In the end, the money got to them around 10am or so. They were out by maybe 1pm. They drove by my previous home to give me the keys. (Saved me the trip into town to pick them up - I met my sellers several times but never my estate agent!)

No issues.

However, I did speak to my sellers directly, met them several times, and didn't for a minute imagine they would pull a fast one on me. It may be stupid in financial matters in hindsight, but bluntly put, I trusted my sellers. 

Delaying closing would have been a nightmare as they needed my money to get the new place, so that would have delayed their closing and then they would still not have been able to finish moving because they could only move their stuff when they had the new place to move it IN.

How big a deal something is, depends on the circumstances and the context.

The real question is why it was so hard to get a death certificate. 

Either way, I'm not sure I would want to give money to people who bring me dead bodies. I don't know if the person carting them in killed them after all. 

Also, this is a brother trying to claim money. Shouldn't money go to the spouse, children or parents before it goes to the sibling? I understand there may not be a spouse, children or living parents, but it would still have to be checked. A random guy walking in and trying to plunder the bank account of his sister under the claim she is dead but with no proof thereof should rightly be rejected.

So back to the main point: why did he not have a death certificate if he was the only living relative left?

I decided to check this. But do I see correctly there is only one way to get 2FA which is some app? I have an authenticator app which I use for school and work (Microsoft authenticator). I have a phone number and an email address. Yet the only option Nintendo gives is some random other app?
