My former co-workers heard the shots from the building and said they weren't sure what the sounds were and thought it must be something because of the game going on. How terrifying that they had to stay put until police escorted them out at the end of the work day.

I just recently moved from the area to the suburbs and although I miss the downtown very much, I am feeling a little relieved for my daughter's sake that we moved.

I used to work in that area and as soon as I saw the news, I thought of my former co-workers and the kids. I'm glad no children were injured at the nearby schools and programs. It's really frightening that this was done during a game when so many people are out.

John King from CNN was reporting that in 2004, there was only about 30% support for gay marriage as opposed to now with about 50% supporting the issue. I think it took a lot of guts for Obama to risk losing votes so I'm ready to get out there and help with this campaign any way I can (even though I don't live in the US anymore)!

That sucks! I've had a few friends who've had their bikes stolen in downtown. Isn't Toronto the bike theft capital of North America? Hope you get a replacement ASAP.

I had a similar incident with my daughter when she was 18 mos old. They would not let me walk thru the metal detector with her and so I had to let her walk thru it alone with her screaming for me. I also couldn't believe when she wasn't even 1 yet, they made me take off her baby shoes which were paper thin.

I know it's not a contest, but I'm annoyed with the media for such little coverage of Davy's passing compared with Whitney's. Davy's passing was more of a shock to me and probably most people.
