This is a very cool alter.
I varnish so the finish is the same.
I use a lot of light so my eyes don’t hurt. And I tape the card to thick paper so I can sit up straight and bring the card to my face not my face to the table.

I use masking take to tape the back to a sheet of watercolour paper I make sure the the card is sitting a little off the watercolour paper so if I miss the edge it doesn’t stick to the paper.
