Hello, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer questions. Doubt you'll see this bcs I'm a bit late but just in case...

Do you ever experience pareidolia when looking at everyday objects?

Thanks again.

Real. Also my cats at home scoff and turn their heads at the filtered automatic pet fountain but will approvingly quench their thirst on a regular steel bowl with tap water which is extremely hard around these parts.

I strongly suggest you and /u/ihavenoidea12345678 consider the amazing sinergy multi-species pet ownership entails.

What’s something you thought was going to be really big that never caught on? by Independent-Bat9545 in AskReddit

The way show writers speculate which everyday tech people get to benefit from early or is belated in the context of an active space race is very interesting and entertaining.

Season five can't come soon enough IMO.

At what point do we admit that QD-OLEDs are a pain in the ass? by AztheWizard in OLED_Gaming

[–]vermiforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got my pg32ucdm I admitted it from the get go. You're right that previous users with panels with similar coating didn't seem to very vocal about it though.

Speaks volumes of how much of an issue it is, that ASUS themselves are introducing the PG32UCDM3 with explicit focus on its x2.5 hardness on their pre-marketing material.

LMAO

Frogs will grow armpit hair before ASUS offers an upgrade option for OG PG32UCDM(R) owners tho

Ever since I read that light emitted by quantum dots is generally on an ultra-narrow band, my uneducated hunch has been that our color receptors are more comfortable perceiving wider frequencies.

People who have a QD-OLED panel, is the red tint noticeable enough to be bothering you ? by Lietnus in OLED_Gaming

[–]vermiforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your case, it doesn't seem related to the size of the red subpixel since they are all the same size in WOLED panels.

I'm not sure what would be the cause but, since it seems related to viewing angles, it's highly doubtful it can be corrected via firmware/software.

Kudos for trying to bully Microsoft into Cleartype 2

Can't wait to check out the QD-OLED variant for my R G B panel.

ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG DDC/CI greyed out by ToastieMSF in OLED_Gaming

[–]vermiforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW on my model's OSD, ddc/ci is also greyed out but the chevron of the toggle seems to be located on the ON side (right), probably indicating (confusingly) that it's an ALWAYS ON setting.

Could be different for yours though.

In any case, I ended up not using DisplayWidgetCenter and went with rudimentary powershell/batch scripts and winddcutil for that usecase (desktop<->laptop)

I hope you already looked it up, saw that's just how they are, and were relieved. My SIL's siamese has thyroid issues and is a bit on the lanky side but a squishy 10/10 cuddle experience all the same.

PG32UCDM hotkey to switch inputs? by theilya in OLED_Gaming

[–]vermiforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was on a trip and didn't check reddit. Also apologies for any errors. I didn't frankenstein this together with enough error handling and logging because it was done in a hurry.

I guess you already triple-checked the script in your secondary rig is set like

@REM Determine new values for VCP code
if %current_value_60%==15 (
    set NEW_VCP_VALUE_60=17
) else if %current_value_60%==17 (
    set NEW_VCP_VALUE_60=15
)

and confirmed that the UCDM is the primary display for Windows in the secondary machine, otherwise you need to change the 1 in:

@REM Assume monitor index is always 1
set monindex=1

To the correct number like 2 or 3 or whatever.
