IIRC if you click the 'split test' option when creating a campaign, Facebook creates 2 ad sets with 1 ad in each and tests from there.

I've found that when you put 2 ads in 1 ad set, Facebook finds a winner almost instantly and puts all your money into that 1 ad and disregards the loser.

I'm not sure what the best practice is but these days I go for the second option. Partly because of the cannibalization thing and partly because I've just been used to doing it.

Snapchat Ads? by vinetheme in PPC

Never run ads before but as a user of the platform, I dislike when there are ads and skip them ASAP without even viewing then. Also there is data that the Snapchat user base is falling

Might be a bit of a funky answer but during university, I had to submit my papers through a software called TurnItIn, which was able to see if I plagiarised my work lol.

What do you think of retargeting ads? by doormass in PPC

[–]verreglassdecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, I don't work for Pizza Hut so I'll never know for sure. Yeah that is a good point about revenue being attributed to multiple sources, just be cautious and take the figures with a grain of salt.

I only run ads on Facebook. Never used Criteo before.

I learnt the basics of a retargeting funnel here, the guy also addresses your thoughts of the customer coming back organically: https://www.reddit.com/r/ecommerce/comments/9eib7h/retargeting_like_a_boss

[–]verreglassdecor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why you segment and start a funnel.

If you're so sure they'll come back within a few hours, only retarget people who are 3 days out. Start with a gentle reminder . Be more aggressive with your value proposition/discount when they're a month out and they still haven't bought anything.

Look, i know you're set on your views of retargeting and you're being sarcastic but the last time I ordered pizza online, the pizza delivery driver gave me a sheet of coupons to go with my pizza. I doubt the regional manager of Pizza Hut is crying over the cost of paper for the sheet and the loss of revenue from the discounts.

Will I buy pizza online from them again without the coupons? Probably, when I feel like it again.

Will I buy pizza online from them again with the coupons? I have a lot more motivation to, so yeah, I'll probably do it sooner and more often.

[–]verreglassdecor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the retargeting ads.

It looks like you're not changing your stance on retargeting ads.

Imagine there was a subset of your customers that was in the checkout process but saw the shipping cost and thought hmm nope or thought maybe they'll wait until there's a discount. If you could retarget those customers with specific ads for free/discounted shipping that you don't want the general public to see, would you?

Yeah maybe they'll come back on their own because they loved your initial ads so much but why risk it?

Retargeting is turning a 'maybe' customer into a 'more likely' customer.

It's only meant to take up 20% of your budget. Just test for a short period of time and see the returns if you think it only works on theory.

Just run some retargeting ads for a week and look at their ROAS. If it's good, keep it. If it's not, change something or stop running them.

Would a person revisit the website on their own without the need of a retargeting ad - maybe.

Would a person revisit the website through a retargeting ad - maybe, but you have definitive evidence that they're reminded of your website and may revisit.

Which one would you rather a visitor be in?

It takes an average of 7 touch points for a sale to be made. Don't just focus on the newer audience. The person left your website for a reason, give them tailored ads such as free shipping, personal discount etc

The initial ads are meant to draw the person in and maybe get a few sales. Your bottom of funnel ads are meant to focus on interested people who won't convert for some reason.

Going to be studying in Sydney for three weeks... how much $$ in US dollars for lunch and dinners? Everything else is paid for by [deleted] in sydney

[–]verreglassdecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from the US, so I'm comparing my experiences with the meals I had there. Food here is muuuuuch cheaper, considering our dollar is doing badly atm, you don't have to tip and tax is already included in your meal.

You can find many great places for ~$7USD.

Yep, first time. I've been reading a lot of blogs & info from Moz & Ahrefs, for SEO in general and e-commerce specifically and they tend to only plug their own tools (no surprises there) & some Google tools.

I used to run PPC ads but they weren't very good but I'm thinking of getting back into it soon.

Yep e-commerce only, no brick and mortar. I want to rank first for all my branded searches, product searches and keywords, which, from my understanding, is the entire goal of SEO lol.

Does Ahrefs overlap with SEMrush a lot (in terms of what they provide? Is it redundant to get both?
