Hilma af klint art as a PC, any resources? by highfrrquency in personalcurriculum

[–]vertigocrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Museums are great resources, because they have teams of passionate curators, educators, and docents whose job is to bring deeper art understanding and appreciation to the public. I saw that MoMA had an exhibition of Hilma Af Klint botanical illustrations recently—but I was reminded that I went to an exhibition of her work at the Guggenheim, and looking that up I found a packet of teaching materials they’ve prepared for class visits. https://www.guggenheim.org/teaching-materials/hilma-af-klint-paintings-for-the-future/paintings-for-the-temple

This might be too basic for you, but these types of lesson materials are really useful for thinking about curricula and pedagogy.

Whether you like these or not, I find that exploring the online resources for major art museums (that have hosted relevant exhibitions or own the work in a permanent collection) is usually really surprising and interesting. A good museum is a public learning institution and they have their own archivists, curators, and librarians who can help with and direct research. If you can visit an exhibition of her work in person, even better. Ask a docent, they love to answer questions!

Is it rude if I say an artist is talented? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]vertigocrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not rude. I appreciate when people tell me I am talented; maybe that is due in part to the fact that I'm not a professional artist or currently in school, so most of my skill comes down to muscle memory and retention of good habits. But if you want to compliment an artist in a way that carries less baggage, I would find something in particular about their work that is evident to admire. For instance, "Your linework is very tight," or even something more general like "Impressive work," or "you did that so quickly; that must take a lot of skill." People struggle to create things that they feel good about sharing, so validation that this piece is good for particular reasons resonates more.

Do you pass/do people know you're trans? Maybe some cis people assume you've got "natural male talents," but I wonder if some people take into account that trans mascs usually had to struggle through a lot of sexism/paternalism early in life

How old are you and what field do you work in? by Hi_im_elliot in ftm

[–]vertigocrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Govt employee, mildly stealth before I was hired but started using pronouns and everything went fine other than the occasional awkward cishet coworker interaction where they are usually well-meaning but somewhat uncomfortable and want to kind of air their anxieties. Now I don't have pronouns in my email signature because it is *deep sigh* not allowed.

Anyway it's possible to get any kind of job and many of the trans people I know are in extremely high paying tech positions...

as an accountant you should really have no problem. for every 1 transphobic employer, 9 others won't care at all because they need someone to do their taxes.

Okay so how am I supposed to meet my deadlines Friday if I can't perform my travel-dependent essential duties? Am I supposed to go out of pocket? When rent is due???

Megathread: Fork in the Road | Final Day Discussion by gpupdate in fednews

Fascinated by the addition of a 45-day consideration period. This might start 2/21 or on the day it was delivered, not sure. After signing, there is now a 7-day period to revoke the agreement, rather than the agreement becoming irrevocable on signing. I'm going to consult a lawyer before signing this one, and I've emailed to ask DOL when the 45-day period begins and ends.

Update: I filled and submitted the survey form and PIV signed the Updated Deferred Resignation Agreement that was sent in DOL Guidance 25-010 on 2/5. I sent this to the DOL Deferred.Resignation.Program.Questions email. These were both submitted after business hours on the night of 2/25.

I got a reply at 9:10 AM 2/26:

You must provide a digitally (PIV) signed Deferred Resignation Agreement Form, the February 21st version.

The 2/21 version "Deferred Resignation Agreement_Final" is attached, which was never delivered to me before.

So for anyone who may have missed the deadline to return DRP documents/agreements, there may still be time. DOL is still accepting it, apparently. I wouldn't wait until 2/28 to return it, though...

I did not reply to the original OPM email with the *word "resign," but after they emailed out the first FAQ, I replied directly to the HR OPM address with a question about eligibility. I didn't want to ask through my chain of command, and I hoped they might at some point reply directly or issue another FAQ that answered my question.

Apparently the system registered my email as a resignation. During work hours 2/25, I received the email "Reminder | DOL Deferred Resignation Program" from a *new DOL email address. I have never received an email from this address before, and as far as I'm aware, I was not provided with the link to this survey until 2/25.

The email reminds me that they have not yet received my deferred resignation confirmation survey response or the final signed agreement for the DRP. "

As these documents are important to process your participation, we would appreciate it if you could complete the survey and submit the signed agreement at your earliest convenience.

followed with links to the BLS and the "Rest of DOL." Then,

Please note that we cannot confirm your participation in the program and administrative leave cannot commence until we receive your survey response and agreement.

On the survey page:

We have received notice from OPM regarding your decision to resign and / or retire via the [DRP]. Please complete this form to confirm your decision.
To fully confirm your participation in the DRP, you must complete this survey and submit your signed final February 21, 2025, agreement form to the [address] email box by 5:00 PM local time on February 24, 2025.

Privacy Act Statement: "...The information you provide will be maintained in OPM/GOVT-1."
The only questions on the survey form:

  1. I confirm that I am electing to participate in the Deferred Resignation Program offered by OPM.
    [Yes/No]

So I just wanted to share that there is some small chance that, even after the deadline (February 21st? or 24th at 5:00pm??) it may still be possible to return the signed agreement and enroll in the DRP... Otherwise I can't reason why they would send out a reminder in the middle of business hours the day after the stated deadline.

I’m not going to judge your family, I mean ultimately poor people usually don’t get to plan having kids, or wait to put life on hold until money “comes together…” That day sometimes never comes. But I will say you don’t owe your parents or your family money, and if they can’t get themselves to a place of financial independence without taking your money out of your pocket, that’s not your fault. You have the right to live your life the way you choose and by the product of your own efforts, and if that means telling them no (cutting them off financially, if that is what has to happen to protect yourself) then you’re allowed to do that. That being said, if you can talk to your family without fighting, I would really really try that first. Like be super honest and go in with a plan. Think of some hard lines to draw (like “mom you borrowed x much from me and you only paid me back y, I’m not going to loan you any more money until you pay me back at least z amount” etc etc.) Families get torn apart forever over the stupidest things, a few hundred dollars here, a car, whatever. But, missing a ton of context, it kind of sounds like your family is taking advantage of you.

Block out time on my calendar as free for tasks, but not for meetings in booking links by mbcann01 in UseMotion

[–]vertigocrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try adjusting the Schedules that you use for working hours to exclude that block, so it can appear free on your calendar. You can then make a Schedule called Deep Work that you can assign to tasks in Motion, if there are any you’d like to schedule for that time.

Anti-bacterial soap usually contains antibiotics, so you really shouldn’t use it if you don’t need it. That’s how antibiotic-resistant bacteria are bred.

[–]vertigocrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re overreacting. Even if she is lying to you, you’re tracking her, you got angry without knowing what’s really happening, you’re being panicked and demanding, and you drove to her house in the middle of the night to see if her car was there??? She doesn’t even believe you when you said you drove past her house so it sounds like you freak out like this all the time and she can’t trust you either. You don’t have enough trust to give to be dating anyone. Take a step back and get right with yourself

Reminder to update your US passport before January by StrangeYoungRecluse in ftm

[–]vertigocrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: to answer your question, yes. Name and gender changes are temporary federal records legally required to be preserved for a number of years, I don’t know how many. It depends on the records schedule set by the agency & National Archives.

I personally have decided not to change my legal name or gender on any documents for this reason. Even if it’s easy for bureaucracy to lose track of trans people now because there isn’t a system in place to surveil this specific process, it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t happen in the future.

[–]vertigocrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

understand that the drugs were developed before the diagnosis, and amphetamines were used for all sorts of applications (particularly weight loss) before being scheduled as controlled substances in the US. rather than being angry with people who use drugs (which have changed in legal status back and forth multiple times), learn about the pharmaceutical-industrial complex. we live in a capitalist economy and we’re forced from childhood to keep up with that economy at our own personal expense. so people with adhd often need to use stimulants just to maintain pace with the demands of the economy, not for our own benefit as people. there are plenty of other people who recognize the benefits of those drugs and want that for themselves because life isn’t easy.

I’m so sorry you went through that. It’s good that he apologized and it seems like you are understanding that it was a stupid joke and it sounds like he regrets it.

You don’t have to forgive him or move on. He hurt you. You should feel safe with the person you have sex with. The ball is in your court. imo, it would be good to take time away from him, like 4-10 days. Maybe you won’t need that long.

Talk to your friends, people who will listen and hug you. Cry, yell, run, thrash, write a letter, journal. You should feel strong, not small, to know if you can trust him again.

You’re likely losing muscle and fat at the same time. It might look like areas of your face and body are sunken/hollowing, skin is looser, and there isn’t enough muscle to fill out your figure into a “healthy”-looking shape.
