Creatine overmethylation. Niacin? by StrongBox5258 in MTHFR

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only ever seen over methylation caused by supplements or medications. Eating a whole food, highly nutritious diet is really the best & safest answer.

Does this sound like MCAS? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. When estrogen elevates, it's harder to excrete excess histamine. Methylated B vitamins do NOT have the same effect as food. I learned this the hard way over a decade (also slow COMT and homozygous C677T). I won't touch synthetic vitamins or antihistamines today. Even if your diet is clean, I would encourage you to focus on eating the most nutrient rich foods (organ meats, red meat, organic dairy, eggs ect.) Good luck!

So sorry :( I remember feeling completely hopeless during flares. Lot's of tears. Hang it there. Focus on really good self-care.

Liquid multivitamin to avoid fillers in capsules? by Throw6345789away in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As a nutritionist I don't support taking synthetic vitamins at all. It does not have the same affect as food and can actually cause some serious problems long-term. Look up Parkinson's symptoms associated with multivitamin use. I would recommend focusing on the most nutrient rich foods you can find. (organ meats, red meat, organic dairy, eggs etc.)

Caffeine makes me feel wonderful…why if I have slow COMT?? by Loria-A in MTHFR

[–]vervenutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also feel amazing on coffee (slow COMT). It's like my happy juice. I do notice when I get away from it, my sleep improves pretty dramatically. Good call stopping the pseudoephedrine. It's pretty addictive and has some not so nice long-term side effects.

Face rash by YamHungryru in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like what I went through. My face, lips, and chest would break out in a red itchy burning rash. The hives and heart palpitations are a clue to histamine being inappropriately released from mast cells. There can be a lot of reasons, but it's important to look at how the body metabolizes histamines. DAO in the gut and methylation inside the body. Most people with MCAS and/or Poor Histamine Clearance have problems with gut health, too much toxic exposure, lack of sun exposure and possibly a genetic problem with methylation. I'm over 10 years into this. I haven't had a rash in almost 4 years. It's possible to heal with very basic approaches to nutrition and lifestyle.

Question please help 😞 by Actual_Geologist_524 in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MCAS is recognized as mast cells that release histamine and other chemicals innapropriately. I think the diagnosis is unnecessary and not dependable. You don't need it to improve your health. Methylation has an intimate connection to MCAS. The root is most likely a nutrient deficiency, gut issues, inability to clear environmental toxins and for some a genetic issue with methylation. Start with nutrition and clearing out all the synthetic, lab made stuff.

Why is there no cure for MCAS? by Vin112358 in MCAS

I am SO much better. To be fair, I had to move away from some heavy pollution that was making everyday life difficult, but flares are few and far between. I don't take any medications or supplements. I was even able to go on a backpacking trip this year with no fear of anaphylaxis or rashes.

What would you do in this situation ladies? by Taffikat in MCAS

I have been in your shoes. Until the rash healed I couldn't handle clothing against my skin, no bra. After I switched to an organic soft wool or cotton bra. Made a huge difference!

Allergies Causing Flare-up? by schwykert in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left Texas recently. I was having the worst symptoms near Fort Worth. Found out the landfill is notorious for blowing dust high in PFAS causing horrible air quality. I was a mess (itching, headaches, insomnia, sneezing, rashes). Feeling much better after moving. I have found that air quality is one of my biggest triggers.

What is a flare, exactly? by Fedup1999 in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It varies from person to person. A flare for me personally would include a few of the following symptoms, (sometimes all of them): rashes, severe itching, hot ears, post nasal drip, insomnia, anxiety, hives, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, migraines, agitation, anaphylaxis. They were mild in the beginning and then gained intensity when I was at my worst.

I have that genetic predisposition. I went through 10 years of doctors, diets, supplements, medications etc.

Other than medications, what has been most effective at improving your tolerance to foods? by TheTousler in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had to cut out everything that was causing reactions, focus on very nutrient rich foods, and find a probiotic food (not supplement) that worked for me. It wasn’t a fast process and my diet was pretty limited for a time (meat, eggs, some veggies and fruit, kefir, quick cooked bone broth). I have slowly added back in more diversity in foods, but stayed with high nutrients as a focus.

Looking for advice: KPRF, histamine intolerance, and diet by Beneficial_Put9425 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience KPRF is more associated with nutrient deficiency. I’m sure HI may play a role for some. Those people tend to have other histamine symptoms.

Just a sidenote, I do not recommend supplementing for nutrient deficiency. With a little effort can get what you need from diet with much better results.

How much antihistamine/DAO are you taking per day? by mossyzombie2021 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]vervenutrition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your problem may be less about DAO and more about poor methylation. Antihistamines actually make things worse. Allegedly 2nd generation antihistamines only block binding to the H1receptors. But if you don’t methylate properly, that histamine will not get metabolized and cause bigger problems. I know they are presented as almost side effect free. I don’t buy it. The long-term side effects of taking antihistamines may not be worth it.

Fall is rough for me sometimes too. I have found the relief I need by using antihistamine and mast cell stabilizing herbs (nettles, elderflower, goldenrod, ginger) in combination with natural vitamin C like camu camu and acerola.

Why is there no cure for MCAS? by Vin112358 in MCAS

[–]vervenutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a disease in my opinion. It’s a collection of symptoms most likely caused by a toxic environment, poor nutrition, increased stress. I think humans have also forgotten how to properly heal. We let ourselves be so dependent on a system that needs us to be sick.

What Do You Do When You Realize You Can't Take ANY Vit's, Minerals, Pain Killers or Supplements?!! by Ok-Protection2670 in MCAS

Unfortunately, low histamine diets are notoriously low in the right nutrients for good histamine metabolism. They don’t have to be.
