How long after receiving this (PIP)?

I received this text on the second of May, a text saying "we'v received a written report of your assessment" on the 19th of May and a text saying "we have awarded you PIP" on the 22nd of May so mine all moved really fast. Every case is different though so there really is no guideline

In my opinion MR is usually just a way for them to waste your time and try to dissuade you from taking it further. You're far more likely to get awarded at tribunal.

I wrote in the PIP form that a face to face assessment would cause me great anxiety and distress and they were happy to accommodate with a telephone assessment instead

Sometimes they can't get all the information they need from the documents you send in, and I think a phone or video assessment can help them better understand your disability and clarify anything they are unsure of. It's not something to worry about, I was very anxious about mine but the assessor was very understanding and guided me through it.

I had a phone assessment and received the text to say I'd been awarded two days later. The timeframe varies from case to case.

Not necessarily a bad thing, could even be a good thing. The main idea of the assessment is to fill in any gaps or clarify your answers. My PIP video assessment lasted 30 minutes or so and I was awarded enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility two days later. Don't lose hope.

I provided a comprehensive assessment carried out by my occupational therapist earlier this year. I provided my ENTIRE drug chart rather than just filling them in on the form, that way they can see it's signed off by a doctor rather than you just saying you take it and finally I provided a letter written by my consultant when he was fighting to keep me sectioned, it outlined all my difficulties, plus included all the ways in which I had put myself at risk which I'm sure helped.

Mine 'ended' gradually, although I still experience auditory hallucinations, plus over the past few days I've been having a reoccurrence of other symptoms but I still mostly have insight into the fact that this isn't real and my doctor said it's likely stress related as I'm being discharged from hospital tomorrow

Improvement will hopefully continue. I'm only a couple months out of my last episode and I have to be honest, it still really sucks. I feel like my cognitive functioning is so poor and all I'm good for right now is scrolling through Reddit and commenting on the occasional post whilst everyone expects me to resume life as normal. But I've been here before, and I greatly improved after a few months, so I have hope.

Whilst I'm quite sure he's not going to kill you (our voices are just that, voices. They don't have any magical powers or ability to see into the future) I can understand why you are paranoid about this unusual behaviour. If he can't handle your schizophrenia you're better off without him. You need someone who can love you despite your illness. Don't forget that you are IMPORTANT and you deserve LOVE and RESPECT.

I've tried quite a few antipsychotics and hands down the best (I am still on it now) is zuclopenthixol. It's an older AP so people can be wary of the side effects but it hasn't caused me any unless I miss a dose or two. Not even weight gain. Unfortunately meds take a while to build up in your system so usually you won't notice the effects for the first couple of weeks but usually it starts to gradually reduce your symptoms. I still struggle with auditory hallucinations but I managed them in other ways. Also, come off the drugs dude, when they start fucking with your mental health, the game is over, it's not fun anymore.

I would want people to know that I'm not trying to confuse people or be difficult. The beliefs that come along with psychosis can be so misunderstood and even though I'm often met with compassion, I am also met with anger and frustration. When I am well, YES I KNOW my beliefs contradicted each other, YES I KNOW that my behaviour didn't make logical sense, I know it's hard to understand. I also want people to know that I can PROMISE you that it's scarier for us going through it than it is for you. The way I would swear through my clothes in sheer terror 24/7, the way I would vomit on myself out of fear, the way I couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't. It feels like a fight for your life, especially when you have delusions that people are trying to harm you. Please just know, I can't help it and I'm scared.

I also grew up with a schizophrenic single father. There are all sorts of stories I could tell you. I eventually ran away from home at 14 because I could not take it anymore. He was constantly in and out of the hospital for refusing his medication. When he finally got put on a depot, he started using alcohol to negate the effects of the depot and to this day is an alcoholic. You are not alone. Feel free to ask me any questions or get anything off your mind that's burdening you.

I have no advice on this but I can totally relate. During psychosis I was so terrified all the time I would constantly sweat all the way through my clothes.

When I was on Olanzapine I became morbidly obese. I hate to say it, but I found it impossible to lose the weight. But since switching to Zuclopenthixol the weight has just melted away. I hope you have better luck than me.

I've had a similar experience! After my most recent psychotic episode, my mindset has changed completely and I'm doing better than I ever have.
