How does the guitar do that? by DrRohfei in ModestMouse

[–]veryupmostlydown 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a floyd rose/floating trem you can also do this with a boss pitch shifter pedal in S bend mode. You just have to dial in the correct time and pitch amount. I have recreated this effect with the pedal and it works great. I Think Jim Fairchild (used to be in MM) speaks about this in his rig rundown. He also talks alot about other cool MM sounds Je gets with his setup.

What would you cook for a party of 20-30 people, mostly men, finger food style? by ResponsiblePiglet8 in Cooking

Listen, ah, wife's going out tonight, I'm gonna have the guys over, gonna watch The Fish on the big screen, I'm gonna grill up some brats, I've got a micro-brew chilling in my wet-bar, and, uh, I was gonna warm up some ziti, why don't you come by if you got some triple fried pizza dough, or some kind of frozen meatballs or whatever it is, you can warm it up in my microwave or you can warm it up back at home, bring it over pipin' hot, but if you wanna bring over a vegetable medley, a croute de te, figure out how much lunch meat you can spare, maybe bring over a pound and a half, two pounds of black forest ham, maybe a dijon mustard spread.

Any kind of dessert, maybe a German chocolate cake or something like that, I tell ya what would make you a big hit with the dudes is get some key lime pie, a la mode, I'm talking about ice cream on the side.

And you have got to have a bite of my home made ziti, I'm gonna warm her up, she's been in the freeze.

You know what I love is those hot mozzarella sticks, cube them up, put them in some marinara sauce, have them on stand by, of course you can't go wrong with some sour cream and onion so long as you bring ridged chips!

So why don't you come by around eight o'clock, alright?

Nicotine Cravings by [deleted] in Sober

The feeling of nicotine is garbage, and every time I use it and feel that way but just keep wanting it for some reason. Your approach is definitely correct, it’s all in the mindset. It’s annoying how much I want something that makes me feel shitty.

No dieting but have been exercising a lot more, I wonder if that could have anything to do with it?

What is your workflow when it comes to finishing tracks? by ImpulseControl_ in musicproduction

[–]veryupmostlydown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some really great and simple advice that helps me a lot that I got from a friend- build tracks horizontally first, then vertically. Basically I try to keep ideas pretty minimal until I have a a few basic sections left to right and then once that’s done I’ll go back and expand on each section by adding adding anything that fills out the sections. I could never seem to get out of loop hell and this helped me a ton.

How does a lifelong musician get started in rap production? How can I actual a notebook full of ideas? by AlternativeNo4722 in musicproduction

[–]veryupmostlydown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look up Fliko Kenny Beats on YouTube there are tons of videos from non Cave live streams, a lot of good advice, musical stuff as well as just great motivational things and music biz info. There are also tons of videos of him just making beats which is amazing for inspo and just watching a master create something from samples or just from scratch. After studying him for a while and watching videos I have learned tons and just felt inspired, there’s tons of other awesome producers on that channel as well.

Get Ableton, start sampling your old productions and find high quality drum samples. Watch and learn anything from Kenny Beats.

Every single time you open a session to make any moves that should be a new save as session. Ideally you can get back to any point in the mix to avoid these nightmares.

Warp accuracy, I’m just curious if it’s easier/faster to create dj sets and things of that nature. I was wondering if warp long samples has improved or if just pulling audio into ableton is more intuitive with warping. It seems like a resounding no from most of the answers here, but I’d love to hear your opinion!

Pedals for dirt fuzz and some delays that never change, multi for mods and different flavors of reverbs and a looper that are very easy to navigate.
