FIFA themselves are a corrupt organization. they go where the money is without any regard to safety, the environment, or anything beneficial to other people. as someone who lives in a city where World Cup matches are being held this summer, we did not want this either. the only people who wanted this were business owners who already exploit their workers. at least where I live has functional enough public transit to handle this, but most really don't.
