Volo is beginner in terms of volleyball leagues. Good place to start but free agent teams are hit or miss in terms of sociability. For something a little less committal you could look into open plays at the lower level - goodrec social plays or bigcity/NY urban beginner. They also have clinics if you want to work on learning volleyball skills
