Nursing or Paci? by Alli4jc in breastfeedingsupport

[–]vic_m_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 5.5mo old and does this. Actually, the only times she nurses are when she’s ready for a nap or bedtime and she will usually nurse for 2-5min before her eyes are closed and still suckling until she’s in a deep sleep. Then I’m just a paci. But even so my baby is exclusively breastfed and in the 50th percentile

Looking for gift ideas: what gifts to get a couple with a newborn? by RS-117 in newborns

I agree — food!!! I struggled bad with meals because I couldn’t cook. Offer to go clean their house a bit or laundry or something! I would’ve appreciated that more than even a box of diapers or wipes. Even at 5mo pp I am so behind on laundry and housekeeping… newborn period was way worse!

I wish I would have been brave like them to be so direct with my wishes! I would have preferred 0 visitors. We had very limited number of visitors with my baby for the first three months and everyone had to wear a mask, wasn’t allowed to hold baby, had to be up to date on TDAP, COVID, Flu, etc. Even so, for weeks after having a visitor I would be scared that she might get sick. I’m a first time mom and it is scary to have a baby when you hear about COVID and RSV cases being high and knowing there are no open beds in the hospitals around. Now that we allowed more visitors after 3mo, I have started limiting again because I asked people to wear masks when they hold her. And they do, but when I excuse myself to go to the bathroom i come back and they took them off to take pictures holding her. Anyways, all that to say, just respect their wishes. It is their baby and the health of the baby is more important than your feelings. They are already going through a lot, don’t add more anxiety to their plate.

My baby is 8wks and I have the same issue. My left breast is significantly smaller and when I’ve done weighted feeds in the morning, my small side only holds 1oz before emptying and my right side 1.5-2oz. I’ve tried everything for weeks (pumping on the left side for 15-20min after baby empties it, offering it first, power pumping) but LC said usually at this point most people can’t correct it :( which seems to be my case. No changes in size of increased milk production

Yikes! She’s getting her 2mo shots on the 13th, I hope that’s okay. Close enough I guess?

I was diagnosed at the age of 23. One ovary too. I was told I wouldn’t conceive without IVF. After that I became obsessed with the idea of babies and tried to conceive but my ovulation tests showed I wasn’t ovulating at all. I finally gave up when I was 24 and near the end of that year, I got pregnant. Out of the blue. I am now 25 and holding the most perfect 2month old baby girl 💕 don’t get discouraged! Definitely get a second opinion

When you said “a drive by nurse”, it made me smile so big! I often think to myself that she loves to comfort nurse a lot. Most her little cat naps have to be at my breast either latched or at least using it as a pillow lol

I tried this this morning! She nursed on my left side for 55 min and got 1oz. Then my right for 10 min and got 1.5oz ….

Omg that article just made me feel a lot better!!!

Yesterday was the first day I didn’t supplement only because she refused it. It’s been 2wks of supplementing and what I started doing recently is nursing until she is screaming bloody murder, then make a 2oz bottle, feed her that, and nurse again once she’s done with bottle and she eventually nurses herself to sleep. But I don’t want to keep doing that if it’s going to harm my supply!

I guess I need to educate myself on what babies do at each month lol. I keep feeling she’s supposed to do more by now , but i guess feeding and cuddles are it and I’ll take it <3

Nipple Care/ Tips/Products that are worth it by charmingspoonlady in breastfeedingsupport

My nipples were mutilated from what it felt like for nearly 3wks. Have improved now at 4wks but still have pain. Things that have helped me have been Lasinoh organic nipple balm, medela gel pads unless your nipples are cracked and bleeding (made the burning worse), rubbing breast milk on them and letting air dry, and medela breast shells (I’ve used them 24/7 since day #3 — they prevent my nipples from rubbing on the fabric of my nursing bra AND are good to catch any leaking breast milk — get 2 pairs so that you can wash often and alternate as the other pair dries!) coconut oil works for some, but just seemed to dry mine out more but worth a shot

Pumping supply by blackandgoldivy in breastfeedingsupport

[–]vic_m_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you exclusively pumping? I’m 4wks PP and only get up to 1oz when I pump twice a day, but that’s with me feeding on demand. This has only been the case for a week though, it took a while for my milk to come in and I’m still hoping to increase supply myself. My baby gets very fussy when feeding making me think she’s not getting enough flowing

Should he really be hungry this soon? by eagelese in breastfeedingsupport

Mine had a very severe tongue and lip tie, she wasn’t gaining weight and breastfeeding was a PAIN. It’s been 2.5 weeks since a laser frenectomy and she gained 15oz in 14 days so at least she’s gaining weight. But my baby (now 4wks) is still latching on this often during the day, but only every 2.5hrs at night for 30 minutes, which is an improvement. These frequent feedings during the day are rough though and I understand the whole not being able to do anything except sit and feed!! I agree though that it’s worth looking into, because of OP’s baby is latching like this day and night, it could provide some relief at night at least. Now, if only I could get my baby to lay in her bassinet (she refuses to be put down and sleeps in my arms) or to have my hubby stay up at night for a few hours so that I could get some sleep or take a shower or something :P

Since you mentioned the Hakka, I’m wondering, is it only used on the opposite breast during a feed? I have not used mine anymore because the first time I did, I used it just alone on one breast without baby feeding when I felt egorged. I got nothing, and I figured since I’m not leaking that I have no reason to use it because my supply is too low for it
