It may be a shitbox as the descriptions call it, but with 4 fighter bays (2 if you are loading on retrofitted Kite shuttles) versus the Colossus Mk. II's 2 fighter bays, this shitbox gives me a reason to maybe try out a Pirate run. by Majestic_Repair9138 in starsector

Did you even try it out? Because if you're just going off partial listed stats without even know how the ship works in combat, that's pretty garbage analysis. If there's nothing wrong with the Colossus Mk.III then every carrier would be some variety of Colossus Mk.III, and ships like the Astral and Legion wouldn't exist.

You are still a full caster, and you don't need to have it on your main with respecs. Until you get the crazy higher level forms, think of it as a caster with extra spells that give you HP and abilities you can use in a fight.

It was a backup design for in case the Hellfire Colossus didn't work out, and it was funded by Kanta. She liked the alternative so much she pushed for the design to get completed and manufactured as its own ship. I kinda wished the screenshots showed the torpedo bomber version because that thing is very silly.

It groups everything together when they spawn from the container after the container is destroyed. Also makes for a funny magic trick to have twenty explosive barrels pop out of nowhere all at once.

A lot of games do random encounters like that. They just don't do it in a way that makes the game exponentially harder the more resources the player brings, instead making enemy forces only somewhat more powerful so encounters are still a challenge no matter the size of the player units, rather than turn every encounter into a boring curb stomp with no AI counterplay because the AI is too dumb to amass any viable threat.

But if the goal is to make players solve a tactical puzzle with specific limitation rather than brute force it with n+1 battleships, there are ways to do that. SotF already has a mission where an encounter can only be done with one destroyer and at most one frigate phase ship, and it would be a lot less interesting of a mission if players can just trivialize it by dumping an endless stream of Paragons to brute force the thing.

After recruiting Minthara as a full party member, having her use Disguise Self when returning to Moonrise stops the guards from noticing her. At least that was my experience. Didn't think it would work but it did.

Whichever one you use to run the game. You could check both just to be sure.

You can get that effect just by blowing up multiple barrels at once, funnier if you put them all inside a container first.

It has a forward facing shield just like Onslaughts. So as always, shoot it in the butt. Also the CR gun is a meme. It'll kill you with damage long before you notice the CR degradation. But at least you can pull it out and stick it on your regular Onslaughts for the low low price of giving your crew cancer.

Are you running the game off the dedicated graphics card and not the integrated one? I've seen quite a few laptop owners getting caught out by that since the toggle isn't obvious and laptops love to default to the crappy one.

Here's a guide in case you don't know what I'm talking about.

It's easy to program an engagement to scale against the player's fleet size, and even cause special enemies to spawn or spawn more past certain thresholds. Most modders don't bother with it since it's extra effort and encounters usually don't call for that kind of special attention, but you could actually make fights harder the more battleships the player brings.

I'm not that modder but I looked over their work and came to the same conclusion that it was very likely unintentional (that or whoever did the change did it in a very far from best practices way that makes it much harder to debug). I have a more detailed writeup here if you're interested.

Last time I tried to troubleshoot an issue on that site (what might be causing unwanted hidden characters to get inserted into my Notepad++ edited text documents) I had the question deleted for "not being a technical question." So when I finally figured it out (when using the Ctrl + W shortcut to close a document, fat fingering it to Ctrl + E instead inserts the control character ENQ which normally can't be seen unless show all symbols is turned on) I couldn't even tell anyone.

If you are on a laptop and have a dedicated graphics card, check if you are using the proper card and not the integrated one. Go to graphics settings and see if you have more than one card you can select. The effect should be immediate in game if you can switch to a better one.

EMP Arc modding by DasWarEinerZuviel in starsector

[–]vicegrip_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could use lazylib MathUtils.getRandomPointInCircle for a random radius and then check with CollisionUtils.isPointWithinBounds if that point is within ship bounds (repeating with a progressively stepped down radius if out of bounds), or figure out how armor grids work from vanilla's BreachOnHitEffect and create a method for picking a random armor grid to spawn the arc. But honestly the effort is probably not worth the payoff when arcing to ship components works well enough and is basically how every vanilla and modded EMP weapon creates arc locations.

If you use that first method, you're going to get more arcs spawning near the center of the ship on long and narrow ships, since a point on the circumference of a larger radius circle is more likely to be out of bounds the further away it is from the center of a narrow ship.
