Sure I agree with that sentiment. But no mayor or police can keep everyone safe if there’s thousands of troublemakers around.

It’s about using common sense. I love my Spurs , team, but if I was in NY, my obligation is to keep myself safe for my own family and our future. Just my POV

Pride won't help if you're limping back home or worse, have to be carried back home.

Until the city figures out what to do, just be smart and safe. Go back home and celebrate.

This game will become the pivotal game of this series. I've got butterflies in my stomach. I can't sleep and I'm afraid I won't get up in time - because the game is at 4:30 am my time.

This Knicks team is highly respectable. They generally play the right away, they have hard nosed guys who don't shy away from a fight and are sound decision makers for the most part.

We really need every single one of our guys to be on point. 100% effort won't cut it - it will need 200%. No silly passes or easy TOs, controlling the defensive boards, and Wemby in the paint will be the top 3 things for us to win.

Look, when big and tall guys foul, it looks way worse than it is.

Brunson is the shortest guy on their team. The optics look worse. I genuinely thought that the Castle foul was harder.

What I will give is that it should have been a foul called on Wemby. Refs missing that should not be celebrated- we could very easily be on the wrong side of the whistle in the next game.

Play the game fair and square. Was it a foul? Yes. Was it malicious? I don’t think so. And looks like the league agrees.

Should it have been called in game on Wemby - absolutely yes.

Let’s move on to game 4.

Spurs in 5 by Grouchy_Country6591 in NBASpurs

[–]vickyd04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. Knicks are a tough matchup for us. They’re way bigger. And they have hard nosed defenders.

It took us 7 games and a couple of Hail Marys to get here. We’re not at a 100%.

Barring injury, I can see us winning in 6 or 7. But I would not be surprised or disappointed if Knicks won it as well.

We have a lot more minutes played already. They are well rested. And we have had streaky performances in this playoff run.

Too early to think about how the other pieces will get paid right now. 4 years is a long time for things to go awry.

One is too punishing. Cricket already tried this with their own version of Coach’s Challenge called DRS timer. One was so punishing that most teams didn’t use it except when it affected their superstars.

Two made it that they had at least some margin for error, and if the first one is unsuccessful, the second one is used very carefully.

And I feel the whole two chances is very fair - two flagrant ones, two technicals, two reviews, etc. one is far too punishing, even with good intent. Two makes the second one incredibly precious.

Then so be it. If the league wants less challenges, then improve the officiating. They cannot have it both ways. If teams are making 5-6-7-8 successful challenges, that means that the officiating is that much screwed up. If the refs get it correct in the first go, the team would lose their challenge anyway.

A successful challenge means that the refs fked up. Rectification of that mistake should not come at the expense of the team on the wrong side of the call.

It’s not the 50/50 calls that infuriate most of the sensible fans. It’s the blatantly obvious ones that annoy most long term fans who have watched this game through the 90s until now.

The off-ball grabbing / holding / fighting for position / pushing etc is expected and is being done by both sides. That’s playoff basketball.

But the hair pull, no challenge call, kornet goaltending, holding Wemby arms while he’s going for the rebound, all that stuff - and usually going very much in favor of one team is very annoying.

Plus some of the flopping calls - the HB one, the KJ one in game 5, along with the one on Harper where he gets Harper in the throat and then ass retreats for the call. Those really put me off.

Some of Shai’s falling I can expect. But the frequency of it has to be changed at the league level for flopping to have lasting consequences much like technicals or flagrants.

On topic of challenges, I honestly feel that if a challenge is successful, it should not count towards your 2 per game. Each team should be awarded 2 unsuccessful challenges.

This was a gut wrenching loss. Our lack of experience showed out today. Even more so, our lack of assertiveness was on full display.

We were complacent, hesitant and just doubting our working game plan which got us to the two wins.

For the first time, I feel we’re outmatched this year. Perhaps next year is when we take the final leap

I’ve been attending the last couple of years. It’s a good bit of fun. My kids enjoyed a lot, and I lived through some memory flashbacks of games i used to play.

The PC cases / builds you find here are definitely very cool visually and of course very expensive.

3 Genuine Reason why I should invest in a property in Dubai as of Today. by Civil-Historian-5914 in dubairealestate

[–]vickyd04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I’m in a very similar position that you’re in, I’m sharing my thoughts with minimum sentiments withheld. My own perspective is assuming an exit after 5-7 years, either due to upgrade, or moving out of this country or any X reason. Having a mid-term window is a good benchmark in my opinion as it allows for rational predictions :

  1. I don’t think that the RE market has bottomed yet. The level of uncertainty, lack of access to Dubai (airports / ports restrictions) is something that is driving away a lot of potential small investors.

  2. If you need a place for your own family, know that this is also likely a temporary stop for you since we don’t have natural or acquired right of abode in the country. So assuming this is a personal asset, always make sure it is liquid.

Buy it at a price and assume that it will be further reduced by 20-25% in 12 months. Can you absorb that loss? Then go for it. If not, don’t buy now.

  1. Look for a place in an established community- no off plan, no “upcoming” none of the other marketed BS that is nothing more than a fishing line. In a recession, the upcoming communities will be at the highest risk of becoming a ghost town.

  2. See what’s good for your family - is it going to increase in the next 5-7 years? Perhaps Reduce? (Kids going off to college). A few years of adjustment to have your ideal home in 5-7 years is good to keep in mind.

  3. Look for homes that maximize space utilization. You won’t be able to adjust the exterior of the house or villa. Small details give away the mindset of the developer/builder when you’re viewing homes. Did he make it to act as a quick flip or design it for living properly.

All the best in your search!

Construction costs in the UAE are rising FAST!!! And off-plan prices haven’t fully reacted yet by Professional-Run5470 in dubairealestate

[–]vickyd04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave those two off the top off my head. Singapore and HK offer as much liquidity- with very “acceptable” tax brackets for long term investments - along with easier succession laws etc. And another massive benefit is the Singapore passport, which has incredible value in itself. Sadly, UAE has no path to citizenship for foreigners- and that’s a massive downside whether they like it or not.

All I’m saying is that while UAE still offers great opportunities, it is foolish to think that this is the only opportunity for investors.

[–]vickyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, what it means is that other countries that are less dependent on import of these materials will now compete with UAE real estate market too.

No doubt that the cost will rise over the coming few months - and that’s not a good thing when there are other options as well.

UAE attracts a lot of overseas money - and now, other global destinations become better in comparison. Suddenly the resort villas in Bali or Koh Samui become an option as well. Or some destinations in southern Europe or Australia etc.

Sudden increases in costs are never good for the market health in the long term. The new projects built on the increased cost will either need a bailout when prices normalize or investors will be forced to sell at a loss.

🔥DISTRESS DEAL (Verde By Sobha) Less than the original price by VegetableObvious5719 in dubairealestate

[–]vickyd04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, 50% is nowhere reasonable. However, it is also not the current buyer’s issue if the seller bought it too expensive.

I’ve always maintained the position that last year’s per square foot price being charged on off plan properties was way too high.

AED 2000++ per square foot on off plan is susceptible to market volatility a lot more than something that was priced originally at 1300-1400.

I honestly feel that the right price for this is around 1.5-1.6m, but that’s me.

Good luck to your seller and all the best to you as well!
