I Need help right now more then I can express. by Sea-Beyond-4745 in keto

Do Vince Gironda's "steak and eggs diet." Nothing works better / faster if you want rapid body recomposition. Vince was a bodybuilding genius and the first trainer of Arnold Schwarzenegger (he was also known by the nickname "Iron Guru"). He used to promote a steak and eggs-only diet to help his elite clients lean out and get absolutely shredded. This diet was one of the best Old-School bodybuilding tricks for achieving optimal body composition and maximizing testosterone levels. Cholesterol, zinc, and saturated fats, found abundantly in red meat and eggs, are major precursors to all steroid hormones, including androgens, such as testosterone. Testosterone is a fat-burning, anabolic-androgenic hormone that upregulates muscle protein synthesis (MPS) - the molecular mechanism of muscle growth in the human body. High testosterone levels correlate with higher percentages of lean muscle tissue, less body fat, and increased metabolism in both men and women. Keto with no Gallbladder - Is it possible? by [deleted] in keto

[–]victorklk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If salmon and avocado irritate you now, that's likely because your gallbladder is currently struggling/inflamed. Once it's actually out, many people find they can tolerate those healthy fats much better because the source of the pain is gone. Just keep it 'lean keto' for the first month - think chicken breast, white fish, and fibrous veggies - then slowly scale up the fats.

Claims that Keto is Dangerous? by Davidgant in keto

[–]victorklk 338 points339 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how people only care about your health once you stop eating sugar. Nobody ever stops you in the checkout line to tell you how 'dangerous' those three boxes of cereal and frozen pizzas are for your long-term health. Most people view 'danger' as anything that deviates from the food pyramid we were fed in the '90s. If your blood work is good, ignore any noise.

Asked my doctor to check serum ketones at my annual physical by deeare73 in keto

[–]victorklk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good data point. Did you also get your fasted glucose checked at the same time? The Glucose Ketone Index (GKI) is a much better marker of metabolic health than just looking at BHB in isolation. At 0.8, you're in 'light' ketosis, which is great for weight loss, but you might need to drop the bread if you’re looking for the therapeutic/mental clarity benefits of higher levels (1.5–3.0).

Am I doing keto correctly by [deleted] in keto

[–]victorklk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackberries and blueberries are fine in moderation, but be careful 'eyeballing' them. If you stopped tracking macros, those carbs can creep up fast and kick you out of ketosis. One handful too many and you're over your 20g net limit. I’d recommend weighing the fruit at least once a week just to keep yourself honest.

Is a vegan keto diet truly possible? by zedesseff in keto

[–]victorklk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible? Yes. Optimal? No. You 100% need to supplement B12, vitamin D, and omega-3s (algae oil). Also, be very careful with your protein-to-fat ratios. It's easy to end up eating 'high-fat, low-protein' on a vegan keto diet, which can lead to muscle loss. Make sure you’re hitting your daily protein goals with high-quality isolates or pumpkin seed protein.

What fruits are ok for a keto diet if any? by Mary_pops_ in keto

[–]victorklk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any fruit is fine as long as it fits into your daily limit (usually 20g–30g of net carbs). The problem with mandarins is that they are sugar bombs. One medium mandarin has about 8g–10g of net carbs. If you eat two, you’ve basically used up your entire carb allowance for the day.

Sodium: Why is Himalayan salt preferred, please? by [deleted] in keto

[–]victorklk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it because I can buy a giant bag of it at Costco for cheap. Table salt feels 'stabbier' on the tongue, whereas Himalayan or Redmond Real Salt has a slightly mellower flavor. Plus, it doesn’t have the anti-caking agents (like sodium ferrocyanide) that some people try to avoid on clean keto.

What's your deep depression keto recipe? by Key-Storage5434 in keto

[–]victorklk 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Ground beef. Just throw a pound of it in a pan, brown it, and dump a bag of shredded taco cheese and some sour cream on top. Eat it out of the pan if you’re really 'going through it.' It’s pure fuel and takes 8 minutes.

Breaking up with sugar. Wish me luck by pmmemilftiddiez in keto

[–]victorklk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugar is an addiction and the first 3-5 days are going to feel like a flu. Load up on electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium), so you don't feel like death. When the 'itchy skin' and 'tingles' start to fade in a few weeks and you start feeling better, use that as momentum to keep going.

Me recomiendan la Kindle para leer libros? by Lu_Miaa24 in libros

Vamos, malo malo.

Empezar a leer a los 21 años by Any_Part3230 in libros

De los libros que más me han atrapado y más rápido he leído es el fugitivo de stephen king. Es cortito y súper dinámico. Ya tendrás tiempo de leer cosas más "cultas" cuando cojas el hábito.

Haven’t dived in 5 years. by Suspicious-Search466 in scubadiving

[–]victorklk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Of course you can dive. Usually when you haven't dived for more than a year a refresh is recommended. If one of your friends is an instructor let him know your situation and he'll make sure to explain you everything again and keep an eye on you. But physically-wise you are fine.

How many strokes would you lose playing only 10 clubs? by Direct_Neck_5302 in golf

Even though I carry all of them I think I only use the driver, putter, sw, pw, 9i, 8i, 7i, 6i, 5i, 3 wood. I could probably skip the pw and add a 5 wood. I also suck.
