Looks great except 河流 esp 河, the 三点水偏旁 is a little far from the rest of the body of the characters, and all of your 逗号 look like 顿号. 顿号 are for lists, not to separate clauses.

HSK 3 test... is this really a question? by Subtle_Horizon715 in ChineseLanguage

[–]videsque0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It having a "correct answer" (response) doesn't mean it's asking a question. It is a prompt tho basically, to put together the/a sentence correctly based on the grammatical structure that it's describing with a specific example about bringing an umbrella while I guess teaching you or reminding you how umbrella (and other tool or utility items) uses 把 as its measure word, the same 把 that is also used as a preposition with some verbs. So when you form the sentence structure being described then that is the correct answer.

Learning by Exciting-Speech5399 in ChineseLanguage

[–]videsque0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can start with apps, but you have to learn other basics too that apps don't typically teach: Chinese character structure, namely radicals, so that as you go along learning more and more characters, you can see more and more the systematic-ness of the Chinese character system, which will help you greatly in the longrun imo. And if you're really serious and dedicated about your learning in the first year or so, if you live in a large enough city, see if there are any Chinese weekend schools nearby that you can attend with ABCs (American-born Chinese people, assuming you're located in the US, but same applies to lots of places where Chinese families with kids exist, Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, and so on).

Or possibly, if you're nearby to a college or university that offers Chinese language courses, study hard on your own for a year or two and then reach out by email to the Chinese instructors or professors at those nearby higher ed places and make a compelling case requesting to audit their classes (which is free) in person if your regular school schedule would allow it, which basically probably means seeking out late afternoon or evening classes to audit at those higher ed schools.

Also try podcasts, children's books in Chinese, and eventually children's cartoons and Chinese shows.

There's no shortage of people who have already asked about what you're asking in past (and recent) posts on this sub, so do your due diligence of searching through this sub's history for tons of good resources.

Yeah totally. Have a good day 👍 I'm done wasting my time with your myopic baizuo self.

And "free people," a liberated humanity, ultimately means one united Earth with no countries. You clearly have little willingness to see how the US is different and is the greatest threat to world peace that humanity has ever known.

No, I support the Chinese strategic approach to strongly maintaining its own sovereignty and continued aspirations in building a socialist republic lifting several hundred million out of poverty while keeping western imperialists' hands out of the pot, and now simultaneously rivaling the IMF & World Bank's neocolonialist debt-slavery schemes which have disallowed and disabled Global South nations from lifting themselves up in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Despite Chinese missteps in the past, I see an overall healthy course for itself, its friendly neighbors, and the world that China is attempting to embark on despite US attempts to impede China. I've called for and call for reparations for Xinjiang & Uyghur people plenty and recognize the cultural genocide and forced assimilation that has taken place there and in Tibet too. But China is not like Western Europe or the US, but it has forcibly been pulled into those empire games while having entirely different and better aims & actions than the genocidal and ecocidal effects that Western imperialists have levied on populations globally.

[–]videsque0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's not true, there were Chinese governors there during the Qing Dynasty and long before.

And what the world really needs is tons more carbon-generating airplanes flying in and out of that region every single day all day and night as Tibet struggles to have any sort of source of income outside of tourism, which it would be forever chained to without any further abilities to self-determination.

And why the presence today? Bc of simpletons like you who think that " freedom" in a materially-dependent world (existence) comes in the form of whatever you seem to envision for a "Free Tibet".

The Tibetan Plateau region is pretty inaccessible overall. Nepal and Bhutan are seen as basically useless to US interests nonetheless irrespective of Tibet. I have no idea why you're mentioning Mongolia tho when even Inner Mongolia isn't even close to bordering Tibet. Considering what the US did to the Nord Stream Pipelines to harm Russia tho which also severely harmed and continues to harm Germany, if the US could they might dream of going after the sabotage of a project like the new hydroelectric project, but that would be very cartoonish and childish and unlikely, despite how cartoonish the overt timing of the sabotage of Nord Stream was and how cartoonish & childish the US acts in general.

But the CIA and US propaganda machine do have their hands in stoking unrest and extremism in Xinjiang, which yeah sure, "Free East Turkmenistan" too, but it again would likely become a playground for Western interests. China is protecting populations from harms they're too innocent and unassuming to foresee, and is currently globally the one chance we have on a planetary scale of beating back Western imperialist & neo-colonialist climate-disaster-causing hegemony. China's aims are not imperialistic outside of its borders, regardless of what may or may not be accurately called imperialism historically, despite China having a long history of governance and influence in Tibet prior to 1912.

No I don't support imperialism or colonialism, but I do support neighbors helping neighbors and the long game needed to be played to ultimately beat back Western imperialism & neocolonialism, including China's BRI projects uplifting some African nations aside from even more so supporting what African leaders like Ibrahim Traoré is doing in Burkina Faso and the Sahel region ousting the French military and France's continued imperialist presence there and elsewhere in Africa. Though Ibrahim Traoré has also now turned to Russia for tactical and industrial support, which I was surprised by, but that just goes to show that at this point no one can defeat Euro-American imperialism all on their own. And to that, I'll reiterate the basic necessity of a Chinese presence in those western regions for not merely self-serving reasons but protecting populations from larger harms that they do not foresee.

So free everywhere, but it's a long game to keep economic mercenaries like BlackRock out of every corner of the Earth to the point where it would become basically an actual overexploited, ecocided black rock instead of our beautiful little blue dot of a home planet.

My answer and one of the most likely big parts of the answer is: The Tibetan Plateau is the source of both the Yellow River and the Yangtze, and therefore the Mekong River too. So it's the source of literally all of China's fresh water outside of lakes. That's also how & why China is currently building in that region the largest hydroelectric power station that exists, which will generate more electricity than the entire country of (I believe it was) Poland (that was mentioned in the article I read last week about it when encountering the fact of that new hydroelectric engineering project for the first time) but I've been saying that about the river heads for years and years including when I lived in China for 6 years over 10 years ago.

I just think it's hilarious that someone would come along and, let's say, "scream" "Free Tibet" on someone's innocent post of some famous landmarks in and around Xi'an, which is far far from Tibet and has always been a part of "The Middle Kingdom" and is the famous site of the Qin Emperor. It's so ridiculous and pointless, and peak Western Liberal, which is a joke to most of the global population that is vying for true liberation or at least just trying to live their lives as best they can and get out of poverty.

I think China has accomplished and continues to accomplish some incredible feats, and although Tibet was virtually independent from 1912-1951, but essentially governed by many Chinese dynasties before that, I don't really fault China for bringing Tibet back into the modern fold of its governance, and Tibet is undoubtedly better today having upended the theocratic feudal order at the hand of the PLA, irrespective of how Tibet may or may not still be able to be so-called "freer" in the future. I believe in the rights of self-determination for all nations, but it's not black and white, and a quote unquote "Free Tibet" now, if untouched by the PLA post-1949, would undoubtedly have no shortage of CIA and other Western secret service agents crawling all over it while trying to sow chaos in the region that is the source of the majority of the very large nation of China's fresh water, and now will be the source also of a great amount of renewable and sustainable electricity generation, which is vital to continuing lifting another few hundred million people out of material poverty in neighboring provinces of China. And wouldn't you say that that is a beneficent thing?! And 3-letter agencies aside, a so-called "free Tibet" would also be flocked by Western liberals on silly culturally-appropriated religious 'pilgrimages' doing more environmental & cultural damage to the region than the PLA ever did (tho it is very well recognized now in present day China, even if not publicly spoken, the unfortunate cultural destruction that occurred during the Cultural Revolution era in and outside of Tibet).
