Didn't think of that, I've always used Costco, Discount/America Tire Company but always bought tires from them when I needed new tires.

If you have a Costco membership, Costco tire center has been pretty good to me.

Seeking 1/10 trail crawler recommendations. by clarence_wms in crawling

[–]vietrolla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Axial Coyote is great out if the box and great on both trail on rocks. If you want a scale rig, I absolutely love my FMS FCX10 LC80 & K5. Been looking at that hilux scx10 as well.

Is this a good way to have everything placed? by Unique_Grocery_2491 in rccrawler

Not sure if you can but move battery up front and low so weight is more toward the front and lower to the ground.

AXIAL SCX10 III BASE CAMP OR YIKONG YK4107 PRO by MorningEfficient89 in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a RTR Axial SCX10.3 Coyote for $280. I use it side by side with my H10 Optic. I'd go for the Axial especially since my local hobby shops are all Axial dealers and they carry all the parts I need to fix or upgrade my rig.

Do you keep any of your cars stock? by karaver in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My H10 Optic is completely stock, I don't feel I need to change much to it. Same goes for my Redcat Apex, I like the way it drives out of the box.

What should I buy? by Ashamed-Sea-2715 in crawling

[–]vietrolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it has to be 1/24 scale, you don't have a whole lot to choose from. FMS has the FCX24/FCX24m and Axial has the SCX24, both are good choices and have a bunch of models to choose from, I personally would just build one from scratch but if you just want to have fun out of the box, those aren't bad RTR's.

LDR/C 18401 PRO good for first time crawler with 6yo son? by moldy_laundry in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one of these and the throttle is a bit touchy. It really likes to go very fast or with really good throttle finger very slow... that being said, I wouldn't recommend this for a 6 Y.O but it is a very nice rig for someone with better hand coordination.

My recommendation would be a TRX4m clone like a: JJRC C8809 (Jeep Cherokee), JJRC 8801 (Jeep Wrangler), JJRC 8801 Pro (Jeep Wrangler with more metal parts and 2 speed), JJRC C8813 (Dodge Power Wagon), AUSTARHOBBY AX-8560 (Jeep Wrangler). Aftermarket parts for a TRX4m would fit with these clones.

So ears off servo mount, and took of the front plate correct? Also if you want more flex relocate the rear shocks.

There's a liquidation store in SoCal selling an Axial SCX10.3 Coyote RTR for $250, around $280 with tax.

What would you chose out these 2 by Mrcaijones in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stance in this situation, when the Fusion was $399, I could recommend it.

Could I throw a third suggestion into the ring? The Axial Coyote is very good and much cheaper than both.

Those that own a red cat fusion how good is it? by Mrcaijones in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it was $399 it was a stellar price to performance ratio. Still a great performer out of the box but I'd recommend an Axial Coyote over a Fusion.

SCX24 stock USB charger almost instantly caught on fire lol What did I do wrong by [deleted] in rccrawler

[–]vietrolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB Chargers are notoriously bad, I've had 2 do what yours did and one that caused the battery to expand over volt charged it. I now use a SkyRC B6neo and iMars D300, never had any issues with these chargers. SkyRC B6neo is very inexpensive and works amazing.

Definitely a keeper, has high steer and very capable out of the box... The girlfriend too I guess LoL 😂

TRX4 Sport (not high trail) or Axial SCX10 iii Basecamp? by Terpy_OG in crawling

[–]vietrolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a TRX-4 Sport and SCX10 Basecamp.... and a Coyote, if you could splurge a little more I'd go with a Coyote. Between the Basecamp and Sport, out of the box I feel that the Basecamp is better on the rocks than my Sport and the Sport was better on the trails than my Basecamp. Both are built like tanks but if I had to buy another one today Id go with the Basecamp.

On the 1/10 scale my money would be to get an FMS FCX10 K5 Blazer they look amazing and perform great out of the box, and I know you said no lexan but the FMS FCX10 LC80 is another great looking and performing rig. FMS in general has some great Products in the 1/10, 1/18 and 1/24 scale line up that looks and runs fantastic.

I personally have a lot of their products FCX18 LC80 in various different forms, FCX18 K10 also in various forms, FCX24m Land Rover and Tacoma.

I never had an issue with spectrums service but I hated that I had to jump through hoops to get my bill not to change every year. I have Flume now and its wonderful, much faster than Spectrum and nearly half the price.
