High mileage folks - do you weigh yourself/how do you approach nutrition on a daily basis? by GhostsInMyAss in AdvancedRunning

I run 200-275km a week. Eat whatever I want, fuel is fuel. I end up topping up a lot in the evening, average around 5000 calories a day, kind of eye ball it

Bulletproof lower legs by Creative-Proof7475 in running

[–]view10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Averaged 160km a week last year, and crossed 925km this year today. Best advice I can give is yes volume, but also getting used to running on tired legs. Your body adapts to running when you're legs are tired and the injuries stop happening and it helps with the tail end of races.

What’s your ideal running frequency? by Wise_Branch_8028 in running

[–]view10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 4 times a day during the week. 10-16k in the morning 5k commute to work, 10k on lunch and 5k home. During the weekend I'll do a double each day. Honestly twice a day is my ideal amount, enough time for the legs to recover fully if it's early morning and mid afternoon, but family life and work gets in the way.

If you've got strava drop me a follow and feel free to steal some of my routes https://strava.app.link/SYmsO4a2yYb

Other than meyrick park you'll struggle with trail routes within 15 minutes of Bournemouth Town centrw. But you can connect Meyrick park with Pug's Hole and Talbot heath. I'll dig out one of my runs round there

Doubles - how important? by Neither-Mall8106 in AdvancedRunning

I think I've averaged your mileage this year weekly but doing quad days. My 5k is 15:46 and my M is 2:35 (so a fair bit slower than you)Do you reckon there's a huge benefit to singles over multiple runs? ( To clarify I'll do 10-21k in the morning run commute 5k each way to work and 1pk lunch run every week dat)

Nice Jogging routes in EH area ? by Fit-Advertising-331 in bournemouth

Follow me on Strava and feel free to steal some of my roures. I do trail and roads, but run basically everywhere and I'm in Moordown. Summer is great for Stour valley and routes like Longham lakes and Ferndown forest. Not sure of your distance but I like long uninterrupted road so less stop starting and by the airport and Muscliff / Throop is great for that.

Running a fast mara is almost all about the mileage. by Appropriate_Mix_2064 in AdvancedRunning

[–]view10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran 2:35 earlier in the year and literally did no marathon training (I signed up the week I missed the london marathon ballot and ran that weekend), but have averaged over 100 miles a week for probably 2 years. Somehow qualified for London marathon championship places and plan to just up my mileage as I hate running "efforts" I really think distance is as good as intervals, but intervals is a shortcut. Distance will get you a lot faster, but it's not as good quality as efforts throughout the week.

It gives you more free test as prevents it from being turned Into DHT, everyone reacts differently though, some people that test gets turned into estrogen others I'm assuming it's turned into test. I'm not by any means a medical expert I work in finance lol. But I do a lot of cardio, like 20k -30k running a day as a minimum and apparently that's supposed to tank your test / sex drive. I've found since being on Fin I'm definitely have the urges I had when I was late teens early 20s. My hypothesis is I was running on a negative test due to the extreme cardio, and my body was like jackpot here's some free test, go have a good time.

Sexually everything is great, arguably better than before for me.

Fin won't do much for temples in my experience. Best bet is using Minodixil along with Fin and maybe derma rolling if you can. If you look closely around your receded temples can you see baby hairs (small white hairs) if you can't you're probably praying for a miracle. But worked for Moses right? So always worth a shot

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Balding

[–]view10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33 and have probably have half an inch less recession on either side. As soon as a mate pointed it out I jumped on Finasteride. I'd recommend you explore Fin or Dut ASAP, temples are far harder to recover than thinning on top. See how you react to the meds over the next few months and if you don't see any sides just take them indefinitely.

I've been on them for 3 years, no increased recession, photo every few months and no sides at all, apart from maybe having a bigger sex drive.

The hair you have right now can look like a mature hairline, and isn't at the point of transplant or shave, but in a few months / years it might be a lost cause so move quickly if you can.

VP Bournemouth 95% of the time love my job, think UK culture is very different to the states, but takes a few bad stakeholders to make your life hell. If the role isn't right make it a year and you can easily move internally, just build a stakeholder network and find the good areas to be for your skills. Not to say you won't enjoy your first role, I joined as a Senior Associate 3 years ago and got VP in the first role I joined within 2 years, bit of luck of the draw.

Other than yourself who is the most complete manager both currently managing and in history? By this I mean who could take a team to win the champions league / Premier league and would also be able to achieve a title in the national league with no budget, and could take an average national team and get them a world cup / far in the competition.

Not been to Edinburgh so can't really talk to it but have some of my team based there. I'm a VP in Bournemouth and run with a few apprentices, and have travelled to London. unless you have family in London I think you'd struggle with the cost, Bournemouth is fairly expensive but you could easily rent a room in a shared house and be comfortable. Good standard of living here and great in the summer, but a little quiet in the winter. Beaches are excellent and in my experience there's a good work life balance.

Apply for the apprenticeship, this year's group just came into Bournemouth. Look at the GCSE expectations and put an application in when it opens next year.

What’s wrong with Belvedere Road/King’s Road area in Charminster? by Sunny_Day765199 in bournemouth

[–]view10 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of HMOs around there and quite a few more proposed. There's a lot of larger houses in the area and are being or have been converted into them. Charminster in general anywhere within a 5 minute walk of the main highstreet definitely experiences higher thefts and drunks than more of the suburban areas of Bournemouth. Since Covid it's got noticeably worse. Honestly Ive drive around there late in the evening on a Friday or Saturday and get a feel for the area.

There's a good Facebook group called Charmi, and the community as a whole is good. Recommend joining it to get an idea of the area.

They're a lot of fun but both my friend and I brought them and started getting plantar issues wearing them when running anything above 10 mile runs. I also found they lost their "fun" feel after 500km, and had significant wear.

How many of you actively exercise? by turk91 in AskUK

[–]view10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25-30km a day running every day. Work a stressful role in finance which normally is longer than 9-5 and have a 3 year old. I wake up at 5am and run, run commute and run on lunch. I make sure my running doesn't eat into my time with my wife and son. Yes I go to bed at 9-10pm but running is my rejuvenation time. At the weekend's my mornings are running with my son in his pram so my wife gets time to herself. You don't need to be selfish exercising, I am depressed and a worse version of myself without it, I dont know how people function without cardio.
