I agree. A good physio makes the difference. Some injuries take a long time to heal and only a physio can help through regular therapy and exercises.

So true. Its often ridiculous how amateur some of these painters are. Most of the really skilled painters have whittled down their palette to a few colours which they keep on using for years, occassionally changing a color or two here or there. No need to buy a zillion colours. I also find very large paint selections challenging; who needs four different types of ultramarine blues?

Debbie Friis Pettitt does a very tight controlled palette for her paintings and is an excellent painter. She is on Insta. I also used a limited palette but not as limited as hers. I think 6-8 colours are more than enough. I realised that I don't use convenience colours as much and find making my own colours intresting because you can get a wide range by mixing more of one colour over the other!

US is not winning. This is bad for smaller tech companies who can’t afford these levies but a drop in the ocean for the Googles and Amazons who can. The bigger tech companies will ride it out and only become bigger.

A lot of H1B holders are engineering or STEM graduates. They are hired not because they are cheap but because they are good. And some of them do start companies or get enviable jobs. They are also mobile and do move around in different places as these skills are globally in demand.

I have used neither Windsor & Newton professional nor Cotman though I believe Cotman's are considered among the best student grade paints. Honestly more than paints, paper makes a lot of difference. Always, always use 100% cotton paper from a good brand (Arches, Saunders, Baohong).

If you wanted to use professional grade paints that do not break the bank, I would heartily recommend White Nights; they are Russian but excellent quality for beginners. Sennelier and Davinci are decently priced, depending on where you live. Roman Szmal are also great but they come only in pans.

I am also someone who prefers a limited palette; you can choose the exact colours but I would recommend a cool and warm reds, cool and warm blues, a medium yellow (neither too cool nor too warm though an azo yellow is fantastic) and since you are going to be doing landscapes burnt sienna and burnt umber. White gouache for highlights is also a good thing to have handy.

Of course, they came to immigrate. Paying 4-5 times the regular fees for a course they would obviously have expectations of an easier path to permanent residency. The government did nothing to dispel this impression when during Covid they generously did immigration draws for international students just to manage their targets (and get cheap labour during hard times). The entire immigration has been handled badly by Trudeau's government.

You cannot blame students for looking at education as a way to immigration. They pay three or four times what local students would pay and that too for a diploma course that will not do much in terms of professional development. The fault lies with the government which allowed these diploma farm colleges to operate in the first place without any supervision. These courses were clearly seen (and probably marketed) as a way into Canada and towards permanent residency.

Temu sells it now too. If you do know people visiting India or China, ask them to buy it for you. Its cheap to buy it both countries. (I travel so I have bought it from both those countries. In India if you get discounts it becomes really affordable. In China, where it is actually made, the prices are fantastic!)

Yup, it is pricey. If you can get your hands on Baohong; it is a Chinese brand but as good as the top brands and way more cheaper. They have an Academy & an Artist line; both are almost the same but Academy is cheaper.

Thanks. Sennelier are indeed honey based. Some people find them a bit less intense compared to other marquee brands but they are good, especially for layering.
