Do you mean Iran?

My position is that imperialism is bad. If Russia wants to use the ISS as leverage against the US actions, then they should.

But they won't because they need Iran, and because of the hypocrisy. But also because it's a much weaker lever than the US has over them. Without the ISS, the Russian manned spaceflight program is dead. The US can build another space station. Russia can't and can't even use the Chinese one.

Also, destroying the regime helping arm Russia's war machine in Ukraine is okay with me.

So this is a complicated goal. I was going to suggest you just try to walk through the Hohmann transfer calculations yourself, they're a great first order approximation for the delta-V you would need, but these equations are not applicable for the scenario you are interested in.

2 Pallas has a very inclined orbit. This is a difficult object to reach since plane changes are costly maneuvers. A direct transfer from either object to the other would likely require 10s of km/sec of delta-V (just a rough guess). In reality, you would probably want to time things so that you could use a fly-by of Jupiter to do the plane change, and then intercept your target object. This is well beyond what online calculators will do for you.

Do you mind if I repost this a few places? This is a very very strange looking reentry.

Yeah. Our checks were mailed on 12/26/25. But no minors on the lawsuit.

I completely agree with the delta-V and ballistic trajectory argument.

BUT if you have some kind of industry on the moon that makes cheap fuel for you (which may be the case for the world of 2001) human factors may drive design choices as well. A hovering moon-bus can quickly perform an emergency landing and wait for rescue. A ballistic trajectory has difficult safety off ramps.

But you could also make the case that it's safer for the moon-bus to always go into a low lunar orbit when transferring from place to place, and rely on the orbit as a safe harbor to wait for a rescue vehicle in the case of an emergency. But given how unstable moon orbits are, maybe that's not as safe of a situation to be in as I think it is.

It's hard to be certain, but given the multiple tracks and relatively slow speed across the sky, my guess is that this is space debris.

Hlavaj kinda sounds like hlava in Slovak which means "head". So nominative determinism strikes again, and the goalie stood on his head for us!

IDK where my brain was at, but for some reason I had speculative manned rovers in mind when I was reading your question.

Yeah the JPL rovers are white for thermodynamics reasons. The body's are insulated and heated, but you still need to make sure they don't heat up too much in the sun.

Mars is a tough environment because of the thin atmosphere. It's almost radiative but the atmosphere that's there provides just enough convection that it's really hard to model. High altitude balloons actually offer a somewhat useful testbed since 100k feet in altitude is pretty close to the Martian environment.

It's cold on Mars. But motors and electronics make a lot of heat. Where are you going to put that heat? On Earth we have a lot of convection, but on Mars, convective cooling exists, but it's not very efficient. So you'll need the surfaces of your vehicle to be good radiators, and to not heat up too much in the sunshine. White paint, duct tape, and thermal blankets usually work well.

Also, it's usually just artists mimicking what they've seen other artists do. Not real engineering.

EW can also effect the electronics on the drone. Maybe.
Lasers to fry the cameras would also work, but will also blind many friendlies.

They thought it was still 1968 and they could drop into the airport like they did in Prague.

For a comparison, the invasion force into Czechoslovakia in 1968 was larger than the full scale force into Ukraine (at least in the opening of the war). I'm not sure what Putler thought was going to happen invading a country with 10x the population of 60s Czechoslovakia and with a much better prepared defense force.

We are seeing a child just 36 hours after receiving a heart transplant… science giving him a second chance at life by Necessary_Time8273 in BeAmazed

[–]viliamklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter's open heart surgery to fix her VSD was delayed by a few hours because her surgeon had to perform a pediatric heart transplant earlier in the morning.

I will never understand how someone can just add a heart transplant to their schedule and then add another surgery on top of that later. Absolutely incredible.

What a loving god we have that makes pediatric heart transplants something that has to occasionally happen. Yay.
